Friday is my birthday. I have made reservations at The Greek Oyster Bar and Grill for dinner than off to the Ricebird Stadium for the La Grange- El Campo scrimmage. Priceless.

Greek Bros has great food but prepare for high prices. Their steaks and shrimp are fantastic. We used to go there a lot but mainly to hear live music. Was a good move to make reservations especially for early dining because they get crowded.

You will get to see him. It will be a "Manila" offense but I think you will enjoy seeing the sophomore running back too. We are anxious to see you guys too. Can we meet before the scrimmage and visit?

We might be pressed for time getting up there, depending on when my wife escapes work - as she won't miss her "baby" playing. But if we get there with some time to spare before the action commences, would be nice to visit beforehand. Also, could meet up for a bit afterwards to chat for a few. My son in particular is looking forward to scrimmaging a top tier team.

panfan, I'll be there as well and will look for ya. And as humble as refereedoc is, his son is a speedster! He's a playmaker. This will be an interesting scrimmage. LH is always well coached and plays hard! Looking forward to it. :)

FYI. The Cuero vs Victoria West scrimmage on Aug 22nd has been moved to Victoria Memorial from Cuero. Stadium seats, etc need some finishing touches.

The Ricebirds should be very, very good this season across the board. These scrimmages should show a weakness somewhere if there is one. I don't think it will be the line on either side of the ball. Tell them Greeks it's your B-Day and maybe you can get a break. Save some room for the BBQ at the stadium though.

Awww, the best place in the world is there. But, I can't remember name. LOL. It is on Hwy 77 as you enter town from Schulenburg, just past and across the street that leads to stadium.

Well on HWY77 (Jefferson) just north of Eblin St (where you turn right to the stadium) coming from the south is Los Fuentes and if you continue north on 77 past the light at Travis (Business 71) and the light at Colorado you'll find The Guadalajara on the left in a strip mall. I like Guadalajara best.

The Leps have played La Vernia twice in my memory. In the second round in the 3a Dll playoffs the Leps won 28-27 to go on to win State under the command of Tye Gunn and company. Then in 2001 we played in the third round at the Alamo Dome and won 31-13 or so. My son was a sophomore OL and got to play a few series in that game. This year will be another close one imo more like 2000.

The 2000 game still haunts La Vernia. I was there. That was probably our best team before last year 's. Our star RB broke a collar bone late in the first half, and LG just played keep away the whole fourth quarter. LV couldn't move the ball. That Tye Gunn option offense was a real thing of beauty. the 2001 game was plain ugly.
