Both scrimmages are against very good teams, and should definitely help get our young Buckeyes get prepared.

I wish the Kilgore scrimmage was a REAL game! I think Gilmer will smoke them in the scrimmage, though.

What are your thoughts on Glen Rose for this upcoming season? I think they might have a shot at the district title.

They don't have to play China Spring.

Which in this case is correct because University is part of the Waco ISD.

On the other hand (and for the record.......once more)

La Vega is in Bellmead

Midway's High School is technically in Waco city limits, but the majority of its student live in either Hewitt or Woodway

Robinson is in Robinson

Connally is in Lacy Lakeview

and the Partridge..........well, he is in a Pear Tree...............................

Waco has a lot of burbs. They're a little touchy sometimes being associated with Waco, especially Midway. I understand though, but there is a lot of confusion from us outsiders. I've always heard Waco in front of La Vega, Robinson, and Connally high schools. Sometimes, especially lately, I've heard Hewitt in front of Midway High School.

In reply to the subject of discussion, sorry to all for the side track post about the Waco thing.

Anyway,

Rockets will scrimmage against Teague (8/16) and Rockdale (8/21) both are scheduled to be played at Rocket Field, times TBA.

Whatever it takes! I don't know what Traylor was thinking in last year's game. They changed everything from what was successful all season to those trick plays you're talking about. To his credit, though, they did work when we ran them. Our offense didn't run any of our normal plays in that game. Our offense looked TOTALLY different. I don't know whether it was a lack of confidence in our team's ability to execute against that stout defense, or what, but it looked nothing like we were used to seeing. Lack of depth on our defensive line, and turnovers were a big part of the 'Dogs beating us last year. You have to remember that 3rd down play on your last scoring drive. The ball bounces funny to say the least.

BTW, I was checking to see if you were still alive, 'cause I knew that would get a rise out of ya. I do wish we could've worked out a regular season game with Kilgore. I hate to see that rivalry nipped in the bud like that. Maybe next realignment we can get y'all back in our district, or at least back on our schedule.

I'm going to miss the little rivalry we had going as well. Honestly, the Gilmer game has been the one I've looked forward to the most the last couple of years. We have other semi-rivals, but they're not nearly as fun to go to war against. Hopefully we can cross paths again in the not-so-distant future.

I think they will be much improved from last year and playing in a lower classification will help but there are two teams in this district in the top 20 so it will be tough to win it but they could if they all stay healthy. we have I believe 9 offensive starters and 7 defensive starters returning from a bi-district champion team last year. The non district schedule will help tell how we look with this group returning.
