Well considering his last 3 seasons in the NFL before he retired he had only 47 carries for 86 yards and 1 TD i'm thinking he was DONE in 97'..................... Can't imagine he would be anywhere near as good as that 15 years later!

Correction: 47 carries for 229 yards and 1 TD.

If going onto the field for one play before getting knocked unconcious counts as "playing" then yes he could........and by those definitions I guess I could too. Love Herschel Walker, but that's laughable. It must be a great feeling to have confidence like that.

He is not your normal 52 year old.

Enjoyed the tribute however I think I enjoyed watching the offensive line work and down field blocking. Nice having a coaching system like that in place.

In my opinion, could he play? Yes, albeit in a very limited role. He would have to be limited in the number of plays he's available. There's a huge difference in being in shape, and being in football shape. There's also a huge difference in what the body can withstand at 52, as opposed to 32.

How many RBs stay on the field an entire series now days? In the day they split him out wide and let him run by the defense.

I still don't think his body would be able to withstand the constant pounding, or daily grind like the younger players. No matter the physical condition, the bones are harder, and the body doesn't give as much. Yes, he could play in my opinion, but I just don't see him as being a reliable player physically. I could be wrong, but I think injuries would be commonplace for a player that's 52-years-old. I would like to see him try, though. It would be an inspiration to us folks his age...

If they had a 40 year old and up league he would be a stud.

I don't think the game would get him. It would be the ability to recover afterwards. That's what gets me.

I agree, the knees and shoulders on a 52 year old takes a little longer to recover, regardless of being in excellent physical condition. That being said, I still think he could perform at an NFL level in a limited role.
