Gilmer's now everybody's No. 1 in 4A-D2, given recent developments. I don't know if FNF went to press before that became known. DCTF did and that's why Gilmer is fourth in its poll.

DCTF, I read elsewhere, actually predicts a Celina victory over Gilmer in the semis.

I think the most shocked at that outcome would be all the Celina fans I've seen on here in the last year or two dissing the Bobcats as not being what they used to be.

I could see Gilmer being in the top 3, but they will still have to prove they belong. I don't really "care" about rankings, 'cause they are just fodder for thought. The only thing that matters is where a team is after week 16.;) I fully expect a very deep run again by the Buckeyes. I am a little surprised that DCTF has Celina ahead of Gilmer, but maybe they know something we don't.

Celina has 31 seniors,18 out of the 22 starters will be seniors and a lot of these starters have been on varsity for 2 or 3 years. 2 committed D1 players with potential for another 2. Hopefully with the amount of seniors and good players they have it will translate into a deep run.

Last year seemed to be injury after injury so this year they have to stay healthy. As for the dissing there was a lot of it, but this is a new year and a clean slate for everybody, coaches, players and fans. I think Celinas offense will be really good this year with a D1 qb and receiver a big oline and a hoss at running back.

Defense will be loaded with seniors so time will tell. This team is by far the most talented team since the 2008 state title team that faced Carthage mainly on the offense.

Yes please do not worry about Celina this year, just ignore us as we will consider this a successful season if we get two first downs ....Just everyone please ignore us, go ahead and game plan for the next playoff game if somehow we do luck out and squeek into the playoffs. AGAIN JUST pay us no attention there is nothing to see here!!!!

Lol, I'm optimistic this year if you have this many seniors and all but 4 starters are seniors you should be very good. The oline will be bigger and should be really good, Nathan has been throwing the deep ball really good in 7 on 7 and Cash Conder has turned into superman. Running back Jarren Alexander has turned into a beast.

Defensively the dline will be bigger with Taylon Vaughn 6-4 270 at defensive tackle and a few others with good size. Last years biggest defensive tackle was 6-1 200 so needless to say the dline will be bigger. Biggest question for me is at linebacker, Hambrick has been hurt all off season so I'm curious what happens at that position?

I'm glad to see the Celina faithful have gotten their swagger back, at least on this board.

Regardless of who wins, I hope DCTF is right that Celina and Gilmer will play each other in the semis, as that will mean both schools have had successful seasons.

It's safer to predict Celina will make it to that round, considering that "weak sister" region in which you were fortunate enough to be placed.

I really can't think of any 4A school with enrollment of 685 or less in your region who could stay on the field with you, now that I know what an awesome group of athletes you have coming back.

The Argyle game week 3 will be a good barometer for Celina. For the 1st time in the last 4 years I think Celina has the horses to beat them.

The only good thing I see about our district is a lot more players getting PT which could help us stay away from major injuries to key players. Our predistrict will definitely test us with the likes of Carthage, Daingerfield, and Tatum, though. We will have a target on our back with the #1 ranking, too. The last time we went into a season ranked #1 we finished with a state title ('09). I hope we can repeat that feat.

By the way, Matt, I will be buying the magazine the minute I see it. Your magazine is MUCH better than DCTF, which I can't see where it's worth buying anymore.

I seriously doubt an '06 repeat. There's no teams we would play in the first round like that L-E team that year, with the likes of Will Middlebrooks, LaMichael James, and company. I was worried going into that game because our defense wasn't very good at all. I was telling my brother on the way that if a team could hold us under 40 points we were in trouble. Sure enough...

I guess we can blame David Smoak for the ranking. Lynch could only fly beneath the radar for so long.

On paper, though, now, Gilmer is clearly the most talented team and I say that without even having seen the linemen yet. I don't think either Lynch or Kris Boyd really need much of a line.

Looking at the brackets in the back of the magazine Gilmer has a legit shot at taking home a title this year. I think WOS is the team to beat, but that's only cause they gave the Dawgs the best game of the playoffs. Nice thing for Gilmer though is the season after they graduate their 2 year starting QB, not one but 2 all state caliber QB move in. That's nice. I'll be rooting for Gilmer, but the fact will remain they had 2 BIG time move ins. 2 D1 caliber players at the 4a DII level is a huge advantage. Will definitely be an uphill battle for the young Dawgs on Saturday night in Longview.

I haven't read FNF, but if one of the "move-ins" is McLane Carter, that is only a partial truth.

He'd been in Gilmer since he was in about the fourth grade until he moved to Salado for the 2013 season and now he's back.

Tatum is right where they need to be, they are my sleeper team. No one but the Tatum faithful know what the team looks like, they are loaded with team speed, size on both sides of the ball, and for the first time depth and a lot of it.
My Dawgs are awful high to start the season with 10 brand new starters on the O side of the ball. The defense will be one of the best in the state and will have to play lights out until the young offense can come together. But one thing I know for sure and the rest of the state has learned over the last seven years, is Carthage has in my opinion the one of the best coaches in the state, He will have a young but outstanding O line and can make a super star out of the QB Blessitt. Can't wait for the season, God Bless this site.

I got mine at Wal-Mart in AP last night!!! might want to hurry didn't see a lot of them. they get shipments every night so they might have more.

I just found it at HEB in Aransas Pass. They only had about 6 copies on the shelf.
