Last season's tight end for the Argyle Eagles, soph J.C. Chalk, grandson of legendary football coach Gene Stallings, has now given a verbal commitment to the Clemson Tigers. He visited Texas, Baylor, and A&M this Spring, and head coach Kliff Kingsbury of Tech had expressed much interest as well. Early offers were turned down from Arizona State, Colorado State, and Duke when Clemson swayed him with a visit to the campus this past week. He talked to Coach Chad Morris and felt Clemson would be his best "fit" overall. Chalk still has his junior and senior seasons left to develop his skill sets, but felt that it would be better to make his commitment early and was very impressed with Clemson's coaching staff. He's also an excellent basketball player for Argyle.
