Apparently we are stealing Celina's one and only baseball coach. Hope fully he will continue his winning tradition here.

Glen Rose ISD is pleased to announce the hiring of James Evans as a Teacher/Head Baseball Coach. He was chosen from a list of outstanding candidates. Coach Evans graduated from Tarleton State University with a BBA in Marketing.

After graduating from Tarleton, Coach Evans began coaching at Celina High School and started the Celina High School baseball program in 1997. In 17 years as the Head Baseball Coach at Celina, Coach Evans has achieved a record of 325 wins, 143 losses, and 2 ties. His teams won the State Championship in 2002 and have 2 additional state tournament appearances. Coach Evans has accumulated 9 District Championships, 3 Area Championships, 3 Regional Quarterfinal Championships, 3 Regional Semi-Final Championships and 1 State Championship.

Coach Evans coached the Texas High School Baseball Association All Star Game in 2010 and was selected as the All-Texomaland Coach of the Year in 1999, 2002, and 2007, Texas Sports Writers Coach of the Year in 2002, and District Coach of the Year eight times.

Coach Evans is married to Jill Evans (Glen Rose HS Graduate) and they are very excited to relocate to Glen Rose with their two daughters. Please welcome Coach Evans and his family to Glen Rose!

I met him last night. I bet he will fit in nicely! Hopefully he can build up the program so more players will come out each year.
