+ Watchlist
Trey Supak, LaGrange, Tx. HS P Pittsburgh Pirates
The Pirates have selected Supak with the 73rd overall pick of the 2014 first-year player draft.

Scout Analysis
Supak is a 6-foot-5 right-hander with plenty of projection, but he's a prospect likely to take a longer development path in the minor leagues. His fastball, which currently sits between 88-91 mph, could eventually move into the 93-94 mph range. There is also growth potential in his curveball, which could become above average as he adds more velocity. Sppak also throws a changeup, but he needs to throw it without a significant difference in arm speed in order to make it effective.

Congrats Trey. Will he go pro or college? I like Pitt and the development they do with their young arms. They like to use their own home grown products. What type of coin does a #74 garner? What pick was Homer when he came out?

Congrats to Trey! Always good to see kids realize their dreams and have their hard work pay off.

Just as an aside, 1A Falls City's Justin Twine was also drafted tonight, selected as the 43rd pick by the Miami Marlins. He had signed with TCU earlier this year.

Congrats to both young men!

So great to see these kids achieve this milestone in their lives that they've been working and sacrificing for. Whatever the future holds for them, I wish them the very best. Congratulations to all of them.

Homer was like the overall 13th pick, Let's just say it is highly, highly unlikely UH will ever see Trey pitch there. Second round money is definitely in the cool milion dollar range, maybe more if you hold out. Congrats to Trey, put in a lot of summer hours to get what he wanted.
