Well nobody knows for sure, but there's 8 teams left and only 4 slots. Here's a list of who's playing who this week:
REGION I
Lubbock Cooper(18-17) vs Iowa Park(30-3). Cooper knocked off highly-ranked Liberty Hill last week in a one-gamer. Iowa Park also played a one-gamer against Perryton and extended its winning streak to 17 wins.
REGION II
Paris North Lamar(21-15-1) vs Argyle(29-9-1). North Lamar defeated a very good Melissa ballclub last week in 3 games to get to the regional final this week against Argyle. Argyle battled tooth and nail for a victory over traditional 3A powerhouse Texarkana Pleasant Grove in a very close, low scoring 3-game series.
REGION III
Silsbee(24-7-1) vs College Station(32-6-1). Wow....what a game this will be. Silsbee proved last week against Caldwell how it can erupt for runs, scoring 35 in 3 games enroute to putting an exclamation point on that highly touted series. Meanwhile, College Station had its hands full defeating Huffman Hargrave, one of the better teams in 3A this season.
REGION IV
Hidalgo(25-10) vs Sinton(23-8-2). Hidalgo surprised most prognosticators by dispatching a very formidable LaVernia team in 2 games. Sinton pretty much did the same to Yoakum, but that was not surprising for this year's Sinton squad.

Note>>>All games are 3 game series this week with the exception of Silsbee vs College Station. That will be a one -game whammer jammer for survival.

Please feel free to post your views regarding any or all of these games.

The schedule for these games are listed @ Texas High School Baseball.com. Some of the games start on Wed. nite, and some will be played Thurs, Friday, and Saturday. All games are weather-permitting and therefore could change to a one-game winner advances. So the schedules could be changed this week. Keep an eye out and let us know if you find out your team's scheduled game(s) have been changed due to inclement weather. Good luck to all the teams playing this week.

Should be a great matchup between Argyle and North Lamar in McKinney. Rumor has it that N Lamar will go with Gibbons tonight. With N Lamar getting a home game Friday night I guess they feel like their best chance is to win game 1 with a chance to close it out Friday at home. Argyle has the deeper pitching staff so if they can take game 1 tonight, things will bode well. Big game tonight!

GO EAGLES!

Well, I went out to eat a steak after work today, and just got in. It's 9:45 now and after 3 1/2 innings Argyle is whacking Paris North Lamar 15-2. Argyle is now batting in the bottom of the 4th. That's all I know so far. Let's hear about College Station vs. Silsbee in that one-gamer tonite, and some of the other Game 1 regional finals games tonite.

regaleagle
05-29-2014, 09:57 PM
The Spurs are doing a major job on OKC tonite in SA in Game 5 also. They are winning 94-74 in the 3rd quarter....a 20 pt. scoring frenzy lead. Just lovely.

Final Game 1

Argyle 15
North Lamar 3

Argyle run rules North Lamar in 4 1/2 innings. Two 3-run homers by Mushinski and Cutter McDonald. Argyle only batted 4 innings. McDonald also had a 3-run triple, so he had 6 RBI's in only 2 at bats. Drew Gooch will be on the mound tomorrow nite in Paris @ N. Lamar to try and close out the series. He's Argyle's ace, a TCU commit.

Argyle vs N. Lamar Game 2: 1st pitch @ 8 PM.

Argyle is the visiting team tonite here in Paris....basically a home game in N. Lamar's park(somehow). Argyle coming up to bat in the 1st shortly. Gooch on the mound for Argyle, and Duesenberry for N. Lamar.....both are lefties. A win tonite by the Eagles sends the Panthers out of the playoffs and Argyle to the State Tourney.

Oh man, big mistake by the runner. In that situation (if I were the 3rd base coach) I'd always keep my runner with a foot on the bag and ready to take off immediately after the catch is made if the flyout is deep enough.

Just watching both teams, it appears Hidalgo is a free-swinging bunch, but not particularly disciplined at the plate. Sinton plays very good defense and does a better job with plate discipline. Not sure of the pitching by both of these teams, esp. with this Game 3 in the series. Some teams have 2 good starters, but when you get to the third one things can get dicey. We'll see how this game goes as the game progresses.

regaleagle
05-31-2014, 06:58 PM
After 4 innings

Sinton 5
Hidalgo 2

Sinton has managed to draw 7 walks from the Hidalgo pitchers, and then have capitalized with timely hits. Keeping runners off the base paths and from getting "free" bases is a key to winning ballgames. Sinton seems to be much more disciplined and better at that than what I am seeing with this Hidalgo team.
