Program comparasions are always highly speculative, and I haven't compared overall team sport SC's, but it seems to me that Argyle is currently on the Southlake road.

speaking of Forney :1offtopc::hijacktd: Mr. Rick Meyer from Forney ISD will be recommended to the CISD Board of Trustees as the new CIS Principal on April 17th! Mr. Meyer has been an elementary teacher, assistant principal, and Region 10 Education Service Center Science specialist.

do you know him?

From my research, it appears that Southlake Carroll was only in 3A (now 4A) from 1986 to 1993. During that time, it won three football championships.

Argyle, while impressive in ALL sports, it seems (I don't know about Carroll's record in other sports), has only one won football championship in the same length of time. IIRC, it moved up to this classification in 2006.

I would imagine Argyle is the overall more successful school in Lone Star Cup terms. However, Carroll may be killin' it in a bunch of other sports, too. I just don't keep up with them.

Thoughtful post, Agil--thanks. I think Argyle is moving along the academic as well as athlethic road, too, as did Southlake in time.

Losing is just not in the way of thinking at Argyle....never has been since inception. Always won at basketball and never had a losing season(full season) in football. Now all the other sports programs have been developed with sound coaching and high participation rates. Band and UIL was always tops from day 1. Some years some of the other sports don't win district, but most of the time Argyle is either winning district or getting 2nd in just about every sport....boys and now girls, also. Coach Rodgers has done all any school could ask for, and the selection of the newer coaches with the growth has been exceptional. I know the commitment level of all parties is very, very high.

Argyle easily passed its $45 million bond package yesterday.

In contrast, just about every school bond election held around here was defeated, except for (surprisingly to me) the one in Gladewater, which comfortably passed a $35 million package.

New Diana ISD, a district east of Gilmer, voted down a $15 million proposal by about an 80-20 margin.

In an unrelated matter, historically "dry" Gilmer voted 78 percent for beer and wine sales and also mixed drinks at restaurants.

Gilmer, your party headquarters! :p
