It won't be long now. When the playoffs begin, I reckon we'll see which teams are the real deal and which ones just had a good season. Of course, sometimes a bit of luck or fortune plays into the scenario....or misfortune depending on which side of the fence you're standing. That's just the nature of the beast....unless a team can go thru the whole playoffs undefeated. Then you'd hafta give em a high five and the trophy, haha. But there's just alot of really good teams this year that all have a very equal chance of becoming the state champion. It's fixin' to get real interesting. In a weird way, I'm almost hoping Argyle will lose at least one game to a district opponent before the playoffs just to break the streak. To win so many in a row is getting kinda....well you know how the team could get....cocky. A little bit of humility can go a looong way to start the run in the playoffs. But who's to say any team can't reel off wins for the rest of the season. That would be an awesome accomplishment in baseball.

It's obvious to me by your question that you really don't understand the huge differences between these two sports from a team standpoint. It's almost unheard of for ANY team to go undefeated in a season in baseball, but not so in football. Just the sheer number of games played is one big difference(some teams will play over 35). Another is all the variables involved in baseball, esp. your pitching rotation, and some timely hitting....not to mention there is really no "favorites" in series matchups during the playoffs.

I'd agree with this if they were all made to play a real "best of" series.

I think Columbia won both its games this week and should now be at 22-1-1 on the season(against some really good competition). I would definitely put them at #1 before the playoffs as THE team to beat in Class 3A this season. Argyle's good too, and so is about 10 other teams, but a one loss team at this juncture with that many games played and against some(not all) fairly good teams.....hey they've beat just about everyone they've played. Good stuff, Roughnecks.
