If the school remains open, it will no longer field athletic teams. Meaning:

1. For 2 years, all 10-4A D2 automotically qualifies for the playoffs (yes even a possible 0-10 Scarborough in football)
2. Football coaches are scrambling to find a 10th opponent.

:ack!:

I know Wharton has scheduled to play Jones in non-district

Not uncharted territory. Exact same thing happened when Prime Prep was kicked out of the UIL.

I hate this. Don't get me wrong, we were gonna make it, but a team that complied an 0-22 record for two tears but was a playoff team? That's what Scarborough will likely be.

And they'll get trottled in the first round. I think people get too worked about the whole "making the playoffs is a reward" thing. It's not when you get destroyed in the first round. Kinda like losing every game and getting a participation trophy. No one's gonna confuse it with the first place trophy. If anything, it's a gift to the district 11 champ.

Just takes away the prestige of the playoffs IMO.

You see teams wearing their 2013 playoffs shirts... Well what exactly are you proud of? That meant something when only 2 teams made the playoffs

That's what Im talking about. Who cares? I love the Denton Guyer mentality. Who cares about your predistrict record? Who cares about winning district? It's all about playing the weekend before Christmas. Ive never felt that there was any prestige in making the playoffs, unless you make a significant run or at least seriously challenge a legitimate contender.

Wow you weren't lying. Scarborough has lost 47 consecutive games and has been shutout in 15 out its last 18. They will very likely face WOS in the first round.

Jones will be turned into a specialty vocational school. No athletics....

Send your JV with 2 cheerleaders and a tuba player. The rest of the folks can save their gas money.

According to Carl Padilla Worthing is 18 students from 4A D1. It's too late now but next year the UIL could move them up and bump a team or two down to balance it out. Enjoy those 2014 playoff T-shirts Scarborough.

If the students want to attend another school that has athletics where would they go? Would it have to be a private school?

Worthing, Sterling, or their zoned school.

The UIL might shift districts in all the other sports in mid-alignment (they did it to Whitesboro and Pilot Point a few years ago), but they NEVER do it in football. They'll wait until 2016.
