Here's my lowdown on 8-3A

LH is ranked too high based on beating Caldwell. They are in the top 10 or 12 but not a #6 team at least right now. We have played a lot of very good 4A and 5A teams in predistrict and been competitive. We also played a bunch of those teams during the annual fall league in roundrock - which is a lot like 7on 7 for the guys. These teams are not always the complete varsity lineup, but they are close. LH will win its district and go on to the playoffs, how far remains to be seen.

Lampasas is not a #4 team until they actually play someone. So far, based on schedule, wins are coming against smaller schools with less talent. Sorry Lamp. A team that flies under the radar which has been historically fairly good is Brownwood - we'll see what they bring to the table this year. Gatesville played EastView twice this season already and played them tight both times, but lost. BTW - Georgetown Eastview (4A) is very good - my daughter played with about 80 percent of that team in tournament ball and we held our own against a lot of very stout North Texas teams. For me, Gatesville is a wildcard this year, but I'm not sure early season success will carry over into district success.

Burnet? Man each year I expect something from them as I see more and more of their girls on the tournament circuit and each year I get disappointed. They have some talent, but its not cohesive - maybe this year they prove me wrong. They had a good little pitcher, but she doesn't always get the support she needs from her defense. Got some big bats though.

Llano - hard to say much - small town, play with who brung ya - and they try to scrap it out each year.

Prediction:
Top 3 finishers in District 8-3A will be LH, Brownwood, Lampasas or Burnet
