24 scouts here Thursday to see ya'lls hurler (Trey Supak) H&L. He was clocked at 92, highest. Little off his game (control wise). Not sure if he had pitched any this year prior to this start.

wonder if they are ranking La Grange because of last year or just on Supak? when we played them they were not very good. that was just the second game of the season but they needed a lot of work.

4A Top 25 (http://txhighschoolbaseball.com/4a/4a-top-25-march-3/) Wow Calallen at no.22 with a 11-1 record and have been in two very good tourneys. Well seems that one loss was costly in this ranking.

Little of both probably. They'll be there in the end. They are improving.

I think it's a little early to put any stock in these rankings....or any team's particular record. Too many variables right now to get any kind of bead on the real Top 25. Just look at Argyle's record right now. But I can promise you, in our classification they will be very good by the end of district play. Same for alot of other schools, and some schools not even appearing in the Top 25 yet.

I am sure we are ranked because of both however with Supak on the bump there is not a team in the State we cannot beat in 3A, this team is young and new coach is getting the right players in the right spot. Biggest question will be the pitching staff, still a long ways to go to beat a solid team in a series however still have over half the season for some guys to step up.

Wonder why they didn't have Carthage in the top five.

Argyle has been playing all 5A's and 4A's during the pre-district schedule. I like it. Better to play better competition now than to build up a gawdy record IMO.

In most tournaments ties are not broken after 7 innings, game is called.

I played 4 years of varsity baseball and never had a tournament like that. Who advances?

Sometimes they use a tie breaker such as most runners to reach 3rd base

Yep, and some tourneys have time limits.

These were a couple of the tourney rules at Wharton last week....

*Each team is scheduled to play 3 round-robin pool games to determine Saturday's seeded games. Seeds will be determined by: 1) record 2) fewest runs allowed 3) most runs scored.

*Time limit: No new inning beginning after 1:45 minutes has passed. Saturday games must not end in a tie.

Some tournaments are simply round robin with no tournament winner. I guess it is designed to just get games in and let a variety of players pitch. Both of our tournaments (Granbury and Waxahachie ) used that format.

In addition to the tournament games and time limits, some ties come from non-district games that are cancelled while in progress due to weather.

It's all good. Just tournement games. All the tournements that we have played are just round robin with five games and 2 hour time limits. It does stretch your pitching to the limit.

I think a number of posters have answered your question, the main purpose is to just get games in. Winning tournaments really mean nothing untill the State Tournament and yes it is a great feeling to win your last game of the season,LG Leps- State Champs 2013.
