How in the world do new coaches/staffs get their teams up and running for the next season with all new everything? Got to be tough on coaches and players alike.

It's blocking and tackling

Terminogy is the big thing

And if the program has had lean years, setting high expectations is always a hassle.

Solid senior classes always help. The old saying that the kids play for their teammates is true.

If new offenses and defenses are implemented, all the terminology, play calling etc. is different---and all that has to be learned in 3 weeks or so by 17yo or younger kids---seems impossible---that's why I appreciate the time and effort of coaches and their staffs...

The parents and fanbase will definitely need to show patience and restraint, not to mention support.

The hardest part is building relationships in a short period of time. Most kids pick up the offense and defense fast.

That is a vague response. You are going to have to be more specific...

Nailed it. Trust between the new staff and players is paramount to either continuing success or starting to produce it.

I did not take it tas sarcasm at all. What I meant was in my opinion the hardest part is getting the kids to trust you. The staff is usually a new staff with mixtures of the old staff. So getting them to trust each other is a must. So what I was saying the faster that happens the easier it is for them to learn the offense and defense. Learning names finding out how the new school does things introducing new coaches. The faster everyone gets on board the better. Also depends on the coach that left was he fired did they want change, did he leave on his own. Just random thoughts

Coach Nelms is the real deal and will take Weatherford up a couple notches given the support of the community, great coach and better man.
