Gristmill is awesome for dinner. Highly recommend Chicken Fried Steak or Chicken Fried Chicken. Have been there many times.

There is also an awesome place to eat breakfast on the square in San Marcos. I can't remember the name of it, but it'll be full of people when/if you go down there on a Saturday or Sunday morning.

They have some of the best onion rings I've ever had! And the Gruen Beans are excellent, as well.

Pat's Place in New Braunfels - great food. Also spend some time at the gorge carved out by the floods from a few years back - pretty cool. I'm sure river road down below the dam is not what it used to be, but still a nice drive and there used to be some good bar stops there along the way all the way to Gruene. Course we tubed the river so we carried our beverages with us on the river!!!

I want to add Oma's Haus in New Braunfels for brauts and Clear Springs Cafe on Highway 46 towards Seguin. Best Onion Rings in the World. I would drive or I should say I have driven from Waco just to eat there. Same for Grist Mill
