Last time I was up there, Herd's was closed. Heard the old man got cancer. But either way, it was only open for lunch when it was open. Green Frog is horrible. Casa Grande on the square is decent Mexican food, and Dairyland right on 281 on the east side of town are probably your best bets.

Herds is still open at least it was last Friday.:D

Dairyland is high prices but good BBQ. Green Frog is not what it used to be. There is a place out on 281South called I think the Country Kitchen. It is always packed at lunch. I have never been there though.

I lived in Jacksboro from 2006-2007. Dairyland used to have all you can eat ribs on Wednesday nights for $8.99 and all you can eat catfish for $4.99. Was never impressed with Country Kitchen. Herds was awesome, but only open for a few hours each day. Only ate at the Green Frog once. That was more than enough. After 9pm, Allsup's is the best dinning in Jack County.

They have McDonalds, Sonic and I think it's called a Chicken Express too I think.

McDonald's wasn't there when I was there, but the other two, along with Dairy Queen were.

Lol when I got there it was around 6:15, with a tip-off at the game at 7 p.m. I pulled into DairyLand only to find it closed. I drove down the road and saw the Green Frog also was closed. I looked up Herd's online and saw that it closed at 4 p.m. so didn't even try there. Unfortunately I had to settle for Chicken Express, no problem with it, I just like to try local establishments and places I don't usually get to experience.
