Columbia @ Lamar Consolidated
Tuesday, 6:00 pm

From Coach Shank at CHS....

Columbia varsity baseball will play Lamar Consolidated on Tuesday at Constellation Field (Sugarland Skeeters) beginning at 6 pm. Originally the game was scheduled to be played at LC’s new field, but it is not ready for play. So, the construction company that is building their new facility is footing the bill and giving us the opportunity to play at Constellation.

I actually haven't seen them. Been busy helping coach 14U softball. I believe they are still trying to mesh as a team. We lost I believe 7 Seniors last year.

Gilmer won their season opener tonight, 17-0 over Mount Pleasant Chapel Hill.

It could have been worse but Gilmer's coach wouldn't let his players take but one base on hits and wouldn't let them advance on passed balls.

Gilmer's starting pitcher, Bryce Tomlin pitched 2 and 2/3 innings giving up 1 hit, 1 walk and struck out 5 or 6.

Gilmer should have a pretty good year.

Burnet - 6 Fredericksburg - 1......just got back from that game. My first impression is Burnet gonna have some nice pitching. Ace is back from last year. And pitchers Rockafellow & Barksdale finished off the game.....catcher (Thompson), an Abilene Christian commit, has a rocket arm...not many gonna steal on him......

Why? Just because YOU don't care about that score? I will be sure to keep YOU personally in mind next time I post a score to make sure it is worth posting.

Unfortunately, baseball is not very well covered in East Texas except for a few schools. Gilmer baseball especially. So please forgive me of using this website as it was intended a letting those who may be interested, even if it's only 1 or 2 people, know what the score was in Gilmer's game.

I love it poisoned. How dare you care for and have passion for a sport other than football. Keep us posted on scores in the deep east Texas woods.

That is impressive 33 strikes out of 35! He'll be tough to beat this season when he's on the mound.

He have a hard time repeating that performance . 33/35 strikes is very rare. 3 yr starter at s/s and pitcher.

I've been out of town and out of touch - but my husband was updating me via text - I think he told me Austin's bat was pretty hot that night too.. I'm ready for some baseball.. :)

On my flight to Orlando (to see my kiddos) last Thursday - a group of 15-16 year old (looking) athetic boys were on the flight - wearing baseball socks with flip flops and carrying big bat bags (sans the bats lol) finally, someone asks what they were doing. They were going to a big tourney in the Orlando area.. I did hear one of boys say he was from Taylor. The guy across the isle from him asked him what position he played - he said he was a pitcher.. and then the guy asked how hot his bat was.. he said "they don't want me for my hitting ability" OK then. I later discovered that their moms/dads were on the same flight but sitting in the back.. lol..............

Doesn't Mick Tosch coach at Lamar Consol? Or is it one of the other LISD schools?

Played against him back in the 90's. Was a decent player.

He's at Foster.

He'll be visiting his old stomping grounds in early March when they come play Columbia.

We've got the Gobbler Tourney going on - the weather has been perfect (a little windy last night but oh well) Cuero beat Van Vleck 12-1 in the morning game - and beat Brazosport Exporters 7-6 last night. I will try to get other scores from here and the Shiner location of the tourney..
I have a question - does anyone have any dealings with the Exporter nation aka their fans? Just wondering... if maybe they just didn't like Cuero or if they are negative and obnoxious all the time. Their coach (3rd base) was quite interesting to watch too :) I just love baseball.. and I'm also glad our fans don't get loud and obnoxious (for those not sharp enough to grasp - the sarcasm is firmly planted in my statement :) )

hook I seen why you have worries tonight. yall do have problems if Supak don't pitch. Bellville 10 LG 0 run ruled in 5th. you have a lot of young players that will only get better.

They are no worries for me personally, just the facts. It all runs in cycles , will take some time.
