NEVADA – Nevada Community (4-0,1-0) overcame its own mistakes to defeat winless Royse City. It was the District 10-3A opener for both teams.
Justin Boles and Brandon Hargrow each gained over 100 yards rushing for Nevada Community and had three touchdowns between them. Hargrow opened the scoring with a 58-yard run in the first quarter. Boles scored from 50 yards out in the second quarter and added a touchdown with 1:35 remaining in the game. Boles (12-109) and Hargrow (14-103) paced Nevada Community, which gained 310 yards rushing.
Commerce 61, Princeton 3
PRINCETON – Commerce scored touchdowns on its first four offensive plays and earned 40 first quarter points in a victory over Princeton.
Eddie Hines rushed for 181 yards on nine carries for Commerce, scoring touchdowns on runs of 56, 13, 47 and 35 yards. Ryan Burrell added 85 rushing yards and scored two touchdowns for the victors.
Commerce's defense was stingy, limiting Princeton to 14 total yards, forcing six fumbles and recovering one fumble for a touchdown.
