Region 3 is TOUGH! Carthage, Kilgore, Henderson, Tyler CH, Jasper, LCM, Silsbee, Navasota, West Columbia, & El Campo. That looks like a playoff gauntlet if I have ever seen one. I am assuming 4 teams still make the playoffs from each district...If not getting out of District 9 will be a challenge.

I am sure we will still play them Barney's from The Hill but will not have the same feel as a week 8 or 9 game ! Just hope its not a week one game that would suck for both teams maybe week 4 .

4 will go
The pre-season divisional split was to reduce the gap in enrollment between teams for playoff games, not to reduce the number of teams.

That would be increasing the overall number of teams by double. That doesn't make any sense. Before they split the 2 divisions only 4 teams made playoffs from each district. 2 for division 1 and 2 for division 2. I really don't think that they are adding an additional number of teams.

I dont anticipate getting to play Burnet or Lampasas in predistrict either due to the high probability of meeting them in bi-district. You never know but most coaches dont like that scenerio.

District 9

Carthage
Kilgore

Not even close, if it's second its a distant 2nd...Carthage, Kilgore, CH, Henderson? Your talking about 4 of the most dominate teams in 3a in recent history. Carthage 4 titles in 6 years. In that same span Kilgore has gone to the semis & state in 1st 2 years of 3a. CH back to back Championship apperances with a State Title. Henderson 2010 State Title, and 2 more deep runs. Henderson was down in 2013. AW is decent. Brownwood had 1 good team in 10 years. Big Spring? And then the Big Brother of Region 1, Ville. Region 1 is a joke :taunt:

Other than that Burnet make sure the Bulldogs win 13 and we will win 14 , we will see you in round 2 in Leander's or Georgetown's stadium.

Guess our game 5 ND game against Gonzales is out. Shame.

Don't know why that would be. Dawg. Gonzales is in a 6 team district and will need 5 nd games. UIL did us no favors putting us in a league with the Corpus area schools. Rockport/Fulton, Robstown, and Beeville step in with Pleasanton, Lavernia and Gonzales. Lots of travel, but you and the Gobblers also have lots of travel involved. Not sure if I like it, but there's nothing you can do about it.

Poor Gilmer. Not!!!! Road trip time.

A weak district with long travel times is what I call the shaft. Once again, the UIL did something that makes absolutely NO sense. Look at the district next door to us: Gladewater (13 miles south), Spring Hill (15 miles southeast), Tatum (36 miles southeast), Atlanta (60 miles northeast), Pleasant Grove (80 miles northeast), and then there's Center about 50 miles south of Tatum. If you look at a map it makes no sense. Of course, we ARE talking about the UIL. They probably don't know what a map is, or even how to read one. This hurts us financially in several ways. We'll have to deal with it, but this alignment is pretty stupid.

Heck, from The 80s. I played in that district. Good to see Bay City, EC, WC, and BPort back together.

All these teams better be glad, they aren't haven't to play the Bay City teams of the past.

That would be increasing the overall number of teams by double. That doesn't make any sense. Before they split the 2 divisions only 4 teams made playoffs from each district. 2 for division 1 and 2 for division 2. I really don't think that they are adding an additional number of teams.
The same number of teams will make the playoffs the next 2 years as last year. There were 32 districts last year with 4 teams making the playoffs from each district. The biggest 2 went Division 1 and the smaller 2 went Division 2. The next 2 years, there will be 32 districts again, 16 Division 1 and 16 Division 2 and there will still be 4 teams from each district making the playoffs...the exact same number of playoff teams, 128.

Meh. El Campo was 8-12 against Bay City in Bay City's glory days of the 80's and 90's and pretty much dominated them before and after.

I doubt they are worried.

not whining but I would flip Burnet and Taylor. Burnet has been in a district with Fred, Canyon Lake, and Bandera before...LH was in it also(next years seniors were in that district when they were seventh graders -boerne and bandera weren't in it however)
Taylor if I remember from their 4A days was in a Killeen/Waco area district before....also I might be wrong but probably a lot easier to travel on I35 to Waco area.

Regal is there now isn't he...

Nope....no longer in Fredville. Couldn't handle the goats.....I grew up in cattle country, lol. My son and I decided to set up our roofing operations permanently in SA. I now live in North San Antonio above 1604 between Bulverde Rd and 281. SA Johnson High School is the closest, but there's Smithson Valley and Brennan also close by. Wimberley, Boerne, and Canyon Lake are the closest new 4A's to me now. But close don't count in football....just in horseshoes and hand grenades, haha.

Personally, I don't care who they change out, but Burnet Liberty Hill game is a must. Only time they really haven't played each other is when Burnet went to 4a for a brief stint. I also think LH has landed in a not so challenging district. Except for Billies and LH, the district is weak. Hopefully I'm wrong and those teams that struggled last season come to the table with more this season. Vance has however, decided to challenge LH with a tough pre district schedule. Its my boy's last year coming up and I want it to be a memorable one. So yep - I'm whining. Deal with it! :taunt:

BTW thanks for all the info you put out there.

The new District of Doom:

District 9

Carthage
Kilgore
Chapel Hill
Palestine
Henderson
Brownsboro

Gonna miss playing in the D of D! I would MUCH rather be playing in D1 - District 9 than what we got! Gilmer got the shaft in D2. It sucks to be Brownsboro, or even Henderson.

I would like to go on record and say that I really like the new Carthage district.

From the Marble Falls Daily Tribune: (Burnet coach Jones comments)

Burnet is in Division 1 District 13-4A with China Spring (718), Gatesville (788), Robinson (735), Waco La Vega (743) and Lampasas (1,017) in Region IV. Liberty Hill was moved to District 14-4A.
“That was surprising,” Jones said. “The district we ended up in wasn’t in our radar. To be moved with the Waco area schools is a little surprising. The odd thing about it is we’re playing teams located to the north but are in a region to the south.”
In addition to playing Marble Falls, Burnet will face Fredericksburg, Waco University and Taylor in the preseason. Jones said he is still hunting for one more non-district opponent.

I usually keep an eye on hill country football...Fred should be salty, Boerne took a huge nose dive but did lose a very good QB...if he gets healthy they should battle, Bandera has to be better second year with a good coach and there is some talent in the senior group.

I hope Bandera and Boerne do turn it around and whoever they got coming up result in quality teams. We are not world beaters and heartbreakers, but we will be a very strong district opponent and I would like to see our team have the opportunity to play other challenging opponents. Who you usually root for Nasty?

Well I follow Fred. not as closely as I used to and have started to make rounds in the Hill Country with other teams. I know quite few of the parents and kids in the Fred program so I keep a close eye on them.
