Those districts make absolutely no sense. Celina's district will be Melissa, Anna, Bonham, Krum , and maybe Bridgeport. They'd have to skip over a bunch if teams to get out to Vernon and Iowa Park.

The paper seem to indicate that it was more about helping long distance travel that would be placed on Vernon, Iowa Park, and Bridgeport . Putting them with Celina, Aubrey, and Krum would greatly reduce their travel in all sports is how I viewed it.

Football is the only sport being split into D1 and D2. The other sports will/can have different district alignments.

Oh, wow was not aware that the other sports and UIL events could have different district alignments. Does anyone know what time they will announce all this tomorrow.

UIL Release is at 9:00 am. And just to clear things up, football districts WILL be different than the other sports, not "could be". Not trying to stir anything up, just trying to clear up any misconceptions.

China Spring, Lavega, Connally, Robinson, Lorena will be in the same district in baseball, basketball and track.

Not necessarily the case. There will be some changes to accommodate for easier travel but some districts will be close enough that they WILL be the same for all sports .

Your district will be different for the other sports. The only way they would or could be the same is if all your area schools were either big or small. That's not the case. 1A and 2A have been dealing with this in the past. It's a pain. Your volleyball and football will not be playing the same team on Fridays.

Solving one set of problems brings on a whole set of different ones....nothing new about that, lol. Somewhere down the line this was considered to be making progress. Look around at the world today and tell me we have made great progress....in what??? Is your life really better today than 20 yrs ago? Or your quality of life? How about the future of your children? Was 3A really better off than the other classifications the way it was? Just something to chew on.

I remember when times were better economically (this area peaked out circa 1980 when nearby Lone Star Steel Company had 6,500 workers, all receiving union wages), but the good thing about being a youth is that you have never known anything other than what you are experiencing.

Just being young makes up for a lot. You don't miss your youth until you realize it's gone.

The best way to go through life is to live in the "NOW." It's all there ever is anyhow.

As for the change, I know the Gilmer superintendent voted for it. It was always going to be a roll of the dice as to which division we were in. Gilmer was very fortunate to be designated as the top number of Division II.

For people who don't like to travel, they should have fought against this ever happening. But it's over and they lost. So better start building up those transportation budgets.

No offense to the other teams in Celina's possible district, but this district is all the more reason Celina needs a tougher non district schedule.
