DISTRICT 24-3A: District play finally kicked off as the Columbia Roughnecks got off on the right foot. The Roughnecks (1-0, 15-5) got by KIPP Sunnyside (66-52).
Sweeny (0-1, 10-7) wasn’t as fortunate, dropping one to Stafford (93-39) at home. The Spartans had five players in double digits, led by Lance Byron with 20 points.
Columbia has a big week on the court as they will get a crack at Stafford at 7:30 p.m. today, then gets La Marque at home Friday.
The Bulldogs will attempt to rebound with a trip to La Marque today, then get KIPP Academy at home Friday.
