Had to renew my Drivers License today which expires on Jan 15 at the Pierce office between Wharton and El Campo.
Took me almost 15 minutes to read the letter on two of No. 5 lines. I don't require lenses since i had laser sugery about 7 years ago.

Ran into generous working who was givving me the test ushing the vie finder for the tiny letters-Kept telling me try again-He callled me my Mr using last name and several chances to get right. Felt trapped and hopeless as well scared. He asked me if I was a writer and told him yes. Will get through for another 6 years
Had to give him my HT and WtSure helps if you callhim Mr and Mrs if its a female

Getting old sucks, but I agree over the age of at least 60 I think folks should have to go get retested every year for the safety of the general public. There are a lot of folks out there who quite simply probably should not be driving

Not sure who is worse. Over 60 drivers, or--teenagers. Most the wrecks I've worked, fall in these ranges. Cell phone issues in the teen category is 90% of their cause. Amazing they try to text while driving if you've noticed them at it.

60!! We all get behind the occasional Blue Hair and go 'WOW' they should not even be outside unattended, however I see a lot more unsafe and crazy drivers in the 18 to 30 age.

We see this more and more in our office - have a couple in their 70's or so - never had a claim.. then 2 or 3 "parking lot" incidents in 1 year.. Seems they start backing into cars alot - and it's NEVER their fault lol............ Usually, once they receive the non-renewal from the insurance company, it gives the couple's children an excuse to take away the car.

Hang in there scoop. Get a wider garage door so you can back out safely. Don't be texting and driving, or sexting and driving. :)

Many years age I worked an accident where an elderly man pulled out from a stop sign and was hit by a teen driver. When I ask him for his side of the story he said: "Well I stopped at the stop sign and when I pulled out she plowed right into me"!

Never could make him understand. :)

My biggest issue is seeing a blue hair on the interstate in a 75 mph speed zone or 65 even going 50mph

You youngsters love government regulation.

Why stop at once a year?
Why not every 6 months, or how about every month?
How about anybody no matter what the age that has less than 20-20 vision has to be tested once a month "for the safety of the general public"......

I have at least 20 years on you and I bet my eyesight is better than yours.

Yes and if they are Asian women over the age of 55 then 3 times.

Tested for what? The vision test is a joke, kids getting new licenses no longer even take a driving ability exam and those who speak (or read) no English are allowed to take the test in a foreign language. I am 69 years old, have no restrictions of any kind on my license (including vision) and would think it a joke if I were required to be re-examined annually. I have had no accidents in over 20 years and the last one was when I was rear-ended by a man who appeared to be in his late 30's who didn't see traffic stopped in front of him on a freeway!

Call it govt. regulation, call it a joke but hey its just my opinion and what I believe....

At my job every year I've got to be certified to do certain things, its part of the deal, dont always like it but I do it. Heck I'd be ok with everyone taking a yearly test to drive that wanted a license...but that's just me

How many times have you failed the yearly certifications, and was it really worth the time and effort............

Regulations for regulation sake in many cases.

The annual safety inspection sticker thing is another needless hassle, especially if you drive a newer car.
What a worthless hassle.

I think your opinion will change over time.

As an over 60 driver I can tell you that I don't see as well and react as quickly as I did when I was younger----but I also don't drink and drive after winning "chug-a-lug" contests" at frat parties nor do I see how fast my Porsche or Vette goes.....and I sure as hell ain't in a hurry everywhere I go....
