This was done by request. There are essentially 3 sets of rankings for all 424 teams to ever win a UIL 10-man Football Title including Dallas Carter that was disqualified 3 years after the fact and Masonic Home who tied Corsicana in 1932 but didn't officially get credit. I DO realize that this is by no means a definitive ranking of the best teams ever but it does allow you to see how Defense used to rule in times past and now it's all about Offense. 16 out of the 20 Champions to average over 50 points per game were all in the past 20 seasons. Out of those only Celina 2005 and Alto 2006 ranked in the top 100 in fewest points allowed.

Columns are as follows: Year, Division, Team, Wins, Losses, Ties, Total Points Scored, Total Points Allowed, Average Points Scored per Game, Ranking of Average Points Scored by Game, Average Points Allowed per Game, Ranking of Average Points Allowed by Game, Average Margin of Victory for the Season, Ranking of Average Margin of Victory for the Season

Any better? Here's the Top 10 for the 5 Classifications since the UIL split in 1951. I realize several of these teams lost 1 or 2 games but this is just average margin of victory so it's up for major discussion. Most of the big names are there, just not necessarily in the order most would put them in (i.e. Daingerfield 1983).

La Marque's 2006 team was the least talented of any of its championship teams and they knew it. But one thing that team had above the others was the determination never to give up. I gotta give credit too to Brenham for the 2003 and 2006 rings. In 2002 and 2005, they beat us in the regional finals.

Well it's like the old joke... What do you call the person who graduated last in their class in Medical School? "Doctor." Every single one of these teams on the list can call themselves State Champions, give or take a couple of controversies. I'm working on making Strength of Schedules for them all but as you can imagine... that's a bit time consuming.

Found this on another message board so I thought it was very good information.

I had some time yesterday and today so I decided to do a little research on many of the teams that won State Championships in Texas. Two teams that really stood out for me was the 1923 Abilene Eagles. This team went 12-0 and only allowed 7 points scored on them by Cisco in a district game which they won 19-7. Their records shows them beating Dublin 104-0 and Fort Stockton 95-0. They beat Waco in the State Championship game 3-0. Waco was 12-0 prior to this game and their defense had 12 shutouts for the season, Including a win against Southwestern Texas Freshmen (college). Waco was the defending state champs and this was a rematch of the 1922 State Championship that Waco won 13-10. In 1921 Waco went undefeated with 0 points scored on them. That year they beat the Baylor Bears JV 34-0 and Southwestern University JV 41-0. Unfortunately in 1921 Waco was only allowed to compete for district title as they were not classified in the large school classification, or what today is known as 5A. When you think about the 1923 State Championship game. It was played by two teams that were in the highest classification for the state of Texas. Waco's offense had scored 541 points and their defense had allowed 0. Abilene's offense had scored 580 points and their defense had allowed just 7 points. I stated earlier it was a rematch of the 1922 State Championship game which Waco had won 13-10. When you consider all the above I believe that the 1923 Abilene Eagles and Waco Lions are the two best high school teams of Texas for all time with the 1921 Waco team falling in at third place. I also believe that the 1923 State Championship Game is probably the greatest of all time for Texas High School. Until yesterday I thought that the 1983 Daingerfield team had the best defense with just 8 points being scored on them for an entire seasons. Well, I often forget that this game was played long before I and many of you were every born. Those players of past era's also have records and set records that they are proud of, and we often neglect. So, if anybody else can find a Texas High School Team that had a better season with the offensive and defensive performance that these teams did in 1923 Abilene 12-0 State Champs. Offense scored 583, defense allowed just 7. 1923 Waco 12-1 State Finalist. Offense scored 541, defense allowed just 3 points which was scored by Abilene in the title game. The 1921 Waco team I recognize because they scored 567 points and their defense allowed 0. Two of these games were played against the Baylor JV and Southwestern University JV.
