Bummer. I think this is confirmation that his back hasn't been right all year. Radio is saying that he was limited in practice last Wednesday and Thursday.

Well considering Romo has a QB rating of 70 in the previous 4 "win or go home" games this might not be such a bad thing! And the opposite is true also. What the hell will the Romosexuals say if Orton plays a horrible game and the Cowboys get pounded?

If the Cowboys beat the Eagles with Orton as the QB Farmer will be laughing too hard to have a party......................... I've already shown 1000 times how 500 year old Jon Kitna lead the team as well as Romo did. Now it's time for Orton to show it also....

Have I become so cynical, that I see this as a move by Jerrah to keep from firing "The Red Headed Genius". If Romo doesn't play and Dallas loses to the dirty birds, then it wouldn't be fair to fire Garrett for something that was beyond his control, right?.....Hmmmmmm

The "day to day" status spin of Romo's condition by Garrett is just ridiculous. Why can't the man just be straight up about anything? I say the Cowboys need a tough coach who kicks butts and may use a few 4-letter words and is not afraid to buck Jerry.

Now we have to watch the short clip of Garrett coming in as a backup for the comeback over and over again. Then the camera swings to the sideline as he ponders his next call.

Mac, I'll let bobcat answer, but I think he is referring to Romo's injury as hilarious with reference to the ludicrous week after week Cowboys situation.

Tough crowd. If any of you have ever experienced an acute herniated lumbar disc that compresses a nerve root and causes not only searing pain down the leg but also weakness of that extremity you probably wouldn't be piling on the guy. Just the fact that he finished the game impresses me... and I'm not a Romo fan.

I will watch this game. Cowboys have been my team since the early 70s. What can I say. I'm a glutton for punishment. Looks like the Boys are renewing a friendship with an old QB. http://cowboysblog.dallasnews.com/2013/12/dallas-cowboys-plan-to-sign-jon-kitna-as-their-third-string-quarterback.html/

ESPN reporting that the Cowboys are going to sign Jon Kitna to backup Kyle Orton.

But at the same time, JJ is saying there is still a possibility that Romo will play on Sunday.

I think the FACT that the head coach is actually arguing with the "Source" about Romo's condition and playing opportunity shows he isn't in charge of anything. A real head coach would put an end to other people talking to the media about what all this means. Garrett is just another puppet...........

Looks like the Cowboys are doing the "North Dallas Forty" thing and shooting Romo up with an epidural. Unless it works wonders, I just don't see how he is going to be pain-free and mobile enough to be effective against the Eagles.

Really is too bad. Hes had a really solid year. If we had a reasonable defense we probably already have the division won.

If the defense can play reasonably well, the Cowboys do have a chance. Orton is a good QB and there is plenty of precedence in the league for back up QB's coming in and having success. I think the best we can expect from the defense is to maybe hold philly to 24. It's going to take at least 27 to win it. Maybe even 34.

That about sums it up, Cowboys now have a QB that is just going to try and manage the game and not worry about his stats. Run the ball and mix in the pass , just like the old days of the Cowboys. No one ever talks about how many times Romo goes 3 and out and the D is on the field all night, just control the damn clock and your defense improves without doing anything.

I am with you on running the ball more, and was dumbfounded as to why they didn't vs. packers, but one thing I am certain of is the reason wasn't to pad stats. Get ready for a blitz-fest against Orton.

Everybody blitzes Romo, or at least shows blitz. He then changes the play at the line of scrimmage.

NOPE. The Eagles will play run against Orton and the Dallas offense now. With Romo teams knew they had to blitz to keep the Cowboys at bay. Now with Romo out, they expect the Cowboys to run it more....so they will play for the run. I just hope Orton and the OC adjusts during the game to what the Eagles are allowing. I'm guessing that they will concentrate on shutting down the Cowboys running game and force Orton to be very efficient in the passing game.

If the average fan knows this, then why would the OC not expect this?

regaleagle
12-29-2013, 04:47 PM
It doesn't matter what the average fan or the OC knows or expects....only what really is. REALITY speaks for itself in instances like this, and the reality is that Orton is no Tony Romo at running this Cowboys offensive attack. Hence, the rest of the offensive weapons will have to be utilized moreso to get a win this week. Orton "may" have a great game, but the Eagles will play the odds and try to eliminate the Cowboys run attack and force the backup to make decisions and good, accurate throws. They are better off playing coverage and not blitzing at this point with Romo out. That's just the reality of it all.
