So, using the data in the image, this is how the final 4 teams are ranked. I used science so you can't argue!!

1. Stephenville
2. Carthage
3. Kilgore
4. La Grange

That is what is great about football...the ball is oblong and bounces strange sometimes.

Basically how I ranked DII. I was about to do the same for DI. Thanks for saving me the effort! I was curious about this bracket as well. Turned out the way I thought it would.

I saw what you had done and copied it. Was trying to find your original post to give you the credit for the idea.

No problem at all. Like I said, I am glad you saved me the time!

The only serious flaw in this formula is the difference in strength of different regions. Other than that, it makes for interesting fodder. All four teams did what it took to get here, and that's all that really matters. Two really interesting matchups in the semis, and an interesting final is what it amounts to.

I noticed that too. It is especially noticeable in the records of playoff opponents. Region 1 stinks.

You're basically counting the same thing three times -- Overall Opp Record, Opp w/ > .500, and Opp That Made Playoffs tell you the exact same thing. Any sort of ranking system ought to be about two things -- point differential and strength of schedule. But what you're doing is redundantly weighting strength of schedule extra heavy to give you the result you want.

meh... once again you're using losses to big teams as a plus. 3 out of 4 categories Stephenville ranks #1 in is because of playing Aledo and doesn't factor in at all the fact that you got roflstomped by them.

if you look at Average Margin of Victory

1. Kilgore 31 pts
2. Carthage 27 pts
2. La Grange 27 pts
4. Stephenville 24 pts
