I guess one win in three years wasn't enough.

Sorry to hear that. Coach Valentine was one of the best when he was DC at Bellville. I just don't think he had ANYTHING to work with in Needville. I sure wish Rowe could pick him back up and put him on our Brahma staff now! Good luck to ya Coach V!

I new coach Valentine when he played at Needville and I wrote for the Rosenberg Herald Coaster way back in the 1980s. He was a great player and classy guy. Jays just havent had the talent in a long time.
Don't know if a new coach will help and starts building the program from the 7th grade

What has changed in Needville that they have such a lack of talent?
I read that they were a playoff team in 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010.
On one of the snapshot threads their enrollment was listed at 836, I would think there would be some talent roaming the halls.
Maybe there is a lack of interest in football among the current students.

Your last line is probably the most true.

George Ranch HS opened in the last few years but it didn't affect Needville much, if any.

Coach Valentine is as good as it gets. Every community goes through periods where the success isn't what they're accustomed to. No matter what his record was, the kids of Needville are better off for having him as their head coach.

I wonder if Sweeny assistant Shannon Permenter applied for this one-He was a head coach at Boling a couple of years ago

I know Coach Valentine is a fine fella, and was a good DC at Bellville.
I am not down on him, there must be something besides coaching that led to their record.
One win in three years doesn't make for a great experience for the players, fans, and community.
I think it even hurts property values.

They could have scheduled some weaker 2A teams if they were that low on talent.

I know they lost to Boling two years in a row
