View Full Version : Saban to Texas

In case anyone didn't know, Saban to Texas is being reported that it's a done deal. Seen it all over Twitter, radio and on the internet. Saban's wife did say that the school of Alabama and the fans don't appreciate what he's done for the school and she kind of seemed like she was over Bama. But I don't know if I can believe this at all. Apparently the money is 'substantial' which I wouldn't doubt, but I still think this is a farce.

Heard the guys on 105.3 the Fan talking about it this morning. But if you search it on Twitter there's about 50 different accounts saying they have sources. I don't see there being any truth to it but who knows.

will be talking about and it won't be Saban going to Texas.

End of regular season or after the bowl game? I think they would announce that the bowl game is Mack's last.

IMO it has to happen after the regular season. Bowl game is too late IMO especially with recruiting.

Mack ain't going nowhere. Wishful thinking. Powers came out and said it.

Funny thing, if UT beats Baylor (and it could happen due to the weather possibly), Mack could possibly end up winning Big 12 Coach of the Year.

Then fans can just leave the stadium early next year too.

First-the Horns will not beat Baylor
Second-They may not win their bowl game leaving them with 5 loses
Mack will leave but don't think Saban will replace him

UT wants to let Mack go on his own terms. He may announce his decision after the Baylor game. I think the Saban thing is a real possibility. UT and/ or boosters will pay Saban whatever it takes to get him. Money is not an issue. Saban's wife has been house shopping in Austin for a reason. It is a a very strong possibilty that Saban is the next coach.

I heard it will be a 4/36M contract.

That's probably just the "base" salary. I'm sure there will be an added 3 to 4 million a year in "perks". If that's the case, I don't think Alabama could, or would match it.

It should be noted, however, these are just rumors.

They block any competition site that isn't pre-approved. Even though the site is 100% crowd funded and there is no unique content produced that would hurt the advertisers that don't exist by losing page views.

Texas target list includes Alabama coach Nick Saban, 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh and Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher. And don’t rule out Les Miles and Art Briles.

They need to be more realistic IMO.

Do not be fooled by leaked contract extensions and that the Longhorns are willing to wait until after late bowl games to get the right guy. Money will be no object.

If there’s a big buyout, Texas will pay it.

One thing to remember is that Coach Saban is one of only 2 head coaches to win a Division 1-A College Football National Championships. The only other one so far is "Pop" Warner at the University of Pittsburgh in 1915,16 & 18 and Stanford University in 1926. We have to remember Saban's were done more on the field while Warner's were more on opinion polls due college football differences. Saban has won one at LSU and 3 at Alabama. He may want to make the effort to get a third one at Texas. So money may have little to do with it.

TU needs some leadership & coaching! happy to see fellow t- sips have hope again, despite good job in producing some wins this sin his departure. I would love to see Saban overhaul Longhorns. His Porsche recruits have been waiting for their leader to show up. Saban can hopefully remove the wrench, tuneup the burnt orange mobile & burn some rubber. Good luck horns- hope to see you in a bowl game or preseason event bring back some tradition! LOL Gig'em aTm

I was not ever convinced that Saban was coming to Texas, but I was 100% sure that this was Mack's last year....but now I am thinking they are going to let him have one more chance. Long drawn out departures, divorces, break-ups, pulling thorns out your hands...never go well and just make it much harder to heal. Texas needs to make the decision if they want him to stay then announce Mack will be back next year and move on down the road. If they decide he will not be back next year and Mack will not resign then Fire him now and get on down the road!

I can't understand why Mack would want to stay. First time Horns get their collective rears handed to them next year, and that will happen, the roar for Mack's head will be deafening. If you think USC firing Kiffin at the airport, they'll fire Mack on the sideline at halftime. That may be what the man wants.
