Gilmer is the largest school in the division. No more Argyle, probably forever. I have mixed emotions. Wanted to even up the series eventually. There are also a lot of other rivalries which are now over.

Gilmer will probably gradually lose enrollment in coming years as our academic facilities deteriorate.

ASSUMING NO OPT UPS. Is that option still available? Maybe Gilmer will opt up to play Argyle some more.

There will be a few other good programs in 4A D2 than just Gilmer. (LaMarque, Cuero, Sinton, WOS, Fairfield, Coldspring, Celina, LaGrange, Wimberley, Giddings, among others). Go ahead and predict all the State titles you want lol. You're getting a little ahead of yourselves I think.

remember the list posted above is not an official UIL list.

I thought UIL would be posting the official snapshot numbers today, but i guess not.

Opt ups had to be declared on snap shot day. Only UIL knows who's opting up in each classificiation.

Wow. Center to Texarkana is a long way. Even Tatum to Texarkana is. Center belongs in the region with Rusk, Diboll, Huntington, etc.

I see a far more geograpically logical district as being Pleasant Grove, Atlanta, Gilmer, Spring Hill and Gladewater.

The district in which you put Gilmer is almost too easy. The Buckeyes need to be in a more competitive district than that or else they won't be ready for the playoffs. This has happened before.

189 schools in 4A

D1 100
D2 89

ASSUMING NO OPT UPS. Is that option still available? Maybe Gilmer will opt up to play Argyle some more.

Why wouldn't they make the cut off 800 so that there are pretty much the same amount of schools in each division. I guess that's the genius of the UIL for u!

That would be nice if disctrict games could be played at neutral sites.

I see them putting Liberty in with the other Southeast Texas teams. LaMarque may look close but you have to drive through Houston and down I-10 to get to the Golden Triangle from there. A good 150+ miles.

Glen Rose at 462 will drop to 3A D1 and be a title contender with what they have coming back.

I'm not from Sweetwater, so I have no dog in this fight, but I Googled Sweetwater to Perryton - 4hrs and 45 min. That's crazy, 5 hour bus ride to a district opponent. Think what Thursday night sub-varsity games will be like - wow.

I agree. No offense to any of the other teams, but an easy district schedule does us no good when playoff time rolls around. We can only hope we get some schools like Kilgore, Carthage, or Argyle on our schedule so we will know where we stand against the best in the state.

I think Gilmer has proven that it can compete against bigger schools, and would do well in D1 if that was where we ended up. We have been well into the lower half of 3A in numbers since it's existed in its present form. Now we will be the largest in the new 4A-D2. That's a big change for us. There are still a whole bunch of good powerhouse programs in D2, so to say Gilmer will win state championships just because of this change is silly. I'm gonna miss the old District of Doom, and our annual matchups with Argyle in the playoffs. It just ain't gonna be the same. Oh, well, it is what it is...
