Texas Rangers soon to be top prospect, 20-year-old Jorge Alfaro is just lighting it up again. Jason Parks, a baseball player development writer tweeted earlier today that Alfaro was hitting pop times of 1.79 the other night in the Colombian league.
The pop time is the measurement from the pop of the glove to the release of the ball and one of the best of all time was Pudge Rodriguez who was timed sometimes in 1.6's but usually put an average in the 1.7's. If that doesn't get you fired up for the catcher position for Texas in a couple years idk what will.

He may not have the same skill as Pudge did at the plate but in the field there aren't many kids that are ranked higher than him. It will be awesome if JD keeps him and we have the catcher position locked down for the next decade.

Heard this kid is the real deal. Even if he doesn't have the skills at the plate that Pudge had, his skills behind the plate will pay big dividends. Exciting stuff.
