This one should be a very competitive contest. Not sure if Victoria is available to host, but--would be ideal. Or, Floresville (by me). I'm selfish. LOL.

Another great match up. Both teams are playing quality football and it will be a close game. I'll go with my D26 team by 10.

Both pretty good clubs here. Yes, Victoria would be nice. Your right though, it could be booked with Sinton playing this late on Sat. Hmmmm. Floresville certainly has upgraded their facilities. Best locker rooms I've used and it's turf with plenty of seating. Didn't even think about it. Is it about the same distance for both? Of course, it could already be booked too. Could flip home for home.

Man just like old times Gobblers get to play the Pirates again this should be a good one. Hopefully the Gobblers can keep their streak up verses Sinton. I think one of the streaks will be broke as I don’t see Cuero shutting out the Pirates as they did in years past but I have been wrong before.

yep last 4 meetings Cuero has shut out Sinton.

Not sure how accurate this is but series is something like Cuero 8-6 against Sinton with the Gobblers on a 6 game win streak against Sinton. Sinton won in 2001 and 2002 before the Gobblers ran off 6 straight. Sinton from 1982 to 2002 Sinton went 5-1 when they met.

Both teams playing their best ball right now.

Ingleside's defense is pretty good, they played Cuero tough last year too losing by 7 points. They've been playing bend but don't break defense all season long.... They tend to give up yards but stiffen up around the goal line. This should be a good game and a huge test for both teams.

We are very balanced on offense , our tailback is very big , fast and physical ( has right at 2000 rush yrds so far ) ! We have a good young QB , with lots of speed and size on the edges! Defense is bend but don't break , with lots of youth and recovery speed , we play the pass well as well.

I have a feeling that this may end up as a crazy "whoever has the ball last wins" type of games! :O

Can't have any turnovers and must tackle at the point of first contact, especially with that big back they have  This game will REALLY test our defense. Those boys are ready for the challenge.

Our offense will just have to continue to do what they do with some new added wrinkles (I hope). Our loss against Raymondville was mental and the loss against Ingleside was about Ingleside getting timely stops/turnovers. Those games are behind us and these boys are ready to get down & dirty!

It's been a long time since Sinton/Cuero faced off. Hopefully this is the year we stop being their doormat. :o

It's been confirmed. But, after a night in jail was released. Sounded kinda excessive to me what they did to him in LaGrange. He's like 70 years old. I think Barney Fife, from LPD wanted to feel like a real cop, slamming him down hard enough to send hard hat 30 feet into the air, with facial lacerations. Man, he must of done something really bad to warrant that manhandling. Not like he was going to go tear down the goalpost's following the Gob's loss. Come on LaGrange. Hope the officer got booted?

YTBulldogs you making it out to a game this round? Might see Rockport/Gonzales game on Saturday and I usually seem to see Yoakum folks watching a game in Victoria but don't think they post on downlow.

Great guy, and that son is gonna be something special. How tall is he now?

I've watched Coach Owen's son the last two years and have talked to him quit a bit. I have never met a kid who loves playing football so much. He is exciting to watch and is a good one. But Sinton has a bunch of good kids. That Cohea kid is a good one too and just a sophomore.

Sure would like to see him and Cohea get the ball a little more. they add a twist to things. That Owen kid ran out of his shoe last week. He has some speed.

Oh, and glad to see you on here Roxy.......

I think Sinton's defense is going to surprise a lot of Cuero fans. They totally shut down Zapata's RB/ all round player and made him a non issue. As long as THAT defense shows up, it will be a great game!

Tyler Handson rushing totals are 2226 yards with 33 rushing touchdowns. Handson has pass for 1439 yards with 11 touchdowns. His total yards are 3665 yards and 44 touchdowns.

Sinton has 4012 yards rushing with 53 rushing touchdowns. Total offense 5451 yards for an average of 454.3 per game.

Pirates defense with 3 shut outs on year and past four games given up only 22 points.

Good luck Pirates, keep battling on each play.

Just my opinion , but I'm pretty sure your defense hasn't seen a big power back that will pound you and pound you , but also has the speed to take it to the house. We throw very well with lots of size and speed on the edges as well! Who knows , should be a good game. Hope every has safe travels , and both teams injury free.

we should have won that game.......... :( I remember it well -In fact, I remember that season vividly... Most of those are a shuttle pass are forward toss that go down as a pass. He has only thrown what I would call a pass once. For Cuero to win this game they must contain the QB are it's gonna big a long night.

No secrets in this one. I give advantage to the Pirates. I would guess that they will know whats coming and will just have to tackle. Tough task but should be able to play fast. Cuero on the other hand has the difficult task of dual threat Handson to contend with. Will be difficult for cuero to do anything that surprises the pirates.

That in itself says a lot about the Gobblers & the Pirates! We know we need to stop there dual threat QB , and they know they need to stop our power running game! So now we just get to wait till Friday to see what happens!!

Seemed to be pretty even. Both teams did an effective job of ball control for most of the game. Thought the fourth down call for Cuero was questionable. I would have given the ball to the other Hopkins. This was the first turning point of the game. Great catch by #16 late in 2nd. Second turning point was actually Cueros last TD. Hopkins never returned and the Gobblers were not the same. It was obvious from my pov that Handson was gimpy but played his guts out and how about the play of the Owens kid. Big, tough runs all night and 2 TD's. Also, the 2 pt conversion was nice. It was a good HS football playoff game that was just fun to watch. 2 well coached teams that played hard all night. Yea Handson hasn't been 100 percent since getting injured in Robstown game so lacks the speed right now to break a long one against a team that has some speed also. But he's been playing like that since then and can still make some cuts just not the burst he normally would have.

Both teams played their hearts out and battle to last snap. Great game and season for both. Good win Pirates.

I wouldn't go as far as that at all! This group of coaches have done a great job getting a team that three years ago couldn't fight their way out of a paper bag all the way to round three of playoffs in second year. I am sure there are some calls that the coaches would like to have back, however I bet the coach on the other side had some of those also. This group of kids fought hard and at the end we were not deep enough to withstand halftime injuries to sr #19 a starter on defense and contributor on offense after having sr starter #10 not making the trip for dicipline reasons couple that with losing jr #20 after first drive in second half to injury, those two injuries and not having #10 Cuero also was without fr #17 a quick RB that would relieve #20 and give Gobblers a quick speed runner for defenses to be concerned about, and jr #18 having to sit this game out as well. This 2013 team could not stand to lose so many players that were contributors throughout the sason and win against a Sinton team firing on all cylinders.

Gobblers played a great team Friday night not just a good Coach on Sinton sideline, bottomline Cuero coaching staff is a good one, and these kids played hard and achieved what most in our district and throughout the state said Gobblers would not be able to do.

Hats off to the Seniors that that stayed with this team all four years playing through the disasterous freshman year and fighting hard for the love of the game and the honer of being a member of Goobler football team at the final whistle.

Rationalize it anyway you want. This time of year everyone has injuries. Agree that neither side was out coached. Cuero was outplayed. That is the bottom line. For whatever reason, spin, excuse... Sinton outplayed cuero in 2nd half.

Rationalize it anyway you want. This time of year everyone has injuries. Agree that neither side was out coached. Cuero was outplayed. That is the bottom line. For whatever reason, spin, excuse... Sinton outplayed cuero in 2nd half.

No one has come in and made and excuse.. Everything stated is a fact not a spin. There are certain players that when you lose them it effects the outcome of a game. Sinton win last night fare and square but that doesn't change the fact that we lost a great running back early in the game.

Every team deals with injuries or missing players.
From the postings about Cuero this year, it seems like the offense was something of a one trick pony.
I always thought that if that pony got hurt, Cuero wouldn't fare so well.
I hope he will be completely healed soon.

Congratulations on a good season.

Speaking of one trick ponies, your video in your sig makes me laugh every time I see it.

Congrats to the Sinton Pirates on the win!!

Also congrats to the Gobblers on a fine season and here's hoping your injured young men recover fully and quickly.

well, Farris beats them all. No worry's now. Very nice digs, plenty of room.

Great Post. I had a grandson on the team 2 yr ago and Cuero had a down yr. the turn around under Coach Reeves in a short time is
Remarkable. The future is bright for Cuero football. Also Sinton is a class program and good luck to them next week.

Your really gonna go there??? So much class!!

That isn't classless!! It's the truth!! When the kids play their butt's off the last 3 weeks just to have the coaches lay a couple of EGGS to blow it!!! Yes the future does look BRIGHT in Cuero !!!

Good luck to the Pirates next week.

I agree with this post. Thank you. Even though sinfan75 feels that Handson was held "in check" I think he did an outstanding job last night on a bum wheel. Very proud of our freshman, Owens. Even his comments after the game were impressive! Kudos, kid!

I was listening on the Radio and that is how the announcers made it sound as well. It sounded like he was contained for the most part, but I guess he wasn't? At any rate, it sounds like that Freshman for Sinton was an X factor that most didn't know about.

He ran for 160 yards. Granted not his "normal" 200+ night, but I'll take it! Plus, this is the first game these announcers have done for us. At one point they mentioned that south Texas teams are not used to turf....uh...we've had a turf field for over 2 years now! LOL  Don't get me wrong; I loved that we had them, but they were off on some of the things. Another was referring to our flag as a "jolly rancher flag" LMAO

Anyway....props to Cuero on a great season. They will be a force once again next year & beyond. Not gonna lie...felt pretty damned good to FINALLY beat them again.

Keep it rolling Pirates!

I have been working all week to perfect that trick myself.
I'll post a video if I get it down.

You should give it a try!

44, I was speaking in general about teams, when they have a stud player go down, excuses start. For the most part, Cuero didn't use it as an excuse. Seen more from Sinton, as to why Ykm beat them recently. Post #14 on current GOTW game thread only one I seen mentioning Cuero. Might not even be a Cuero supporter. Dunno. Knowing your elite program, you know a second chance will come around, for paybacks. A few from page 11 on (tango poster for one) from this thread last year, mentioned Hopkins booboo as to why they lost. Along with a couple others.

With all Sinton had returning, I certainly had them ranked #1 in this district, and didn't see them faltering like they are. They will not be in awe, cause they beat ya'll last year. But, it wasn't in front of the Cuero faithful and a packed Gobbler Stadium. This should be the state's GOTW.

This should be the state's GOTW.Big difference from playoff last year to this season is the defense not playing at that level it needs to be for a full game and they return 8 from last year group. A lot of it is the intensity of a playoff game that can get you playing at higher level knowing its win or go home mentality. So far only seen them really be pump up for a game and that was the La Vernia game they were swarming and playing well defensively for most of that game. Hopefully its still in them to reach that level defensively as the offense is starting to play well with Handson looking like he's healthy again.

awwwwww, post's from the past. LOL. Love reading those in rematches.

Snot doing his homework digging up some "excuses" to validate his post. One thing, he uses facts to back up post's. In his own weird way. LOL. His district certainly don't allow for great games, like the DII version of District 15. We have a couple weekly, huh? Welcome here snot. Your hard, but--tell it like it is.

Sinton can certainly make things interesting, in regards to the TITLE. Best wishes to both. Lace'em up tight boys!!!!!!
