La Marque's defense has proven to be a brick wall over the past two seasons in 24-3A
In 2012 the defense gave up 7 points
So far in 2013 the defense has given up 10 points.
One more game left in the 2013 season, let's see how history will be written

that also goes to show you just how good Navasota (and Coldspring) was last year....

The other teams aren't great, but LM has a good defense.

Not filled with as many (experienced) seniors as last year, but they are beginning to hit their prime heading into the playoffs.

La Marque was IMO, the best team that we faced last year. Bellville was 2nd but not too far behind.

I'm with you on that one, to me it was the state championship game.

La Marque always has a quality team. But shutting down 23-3a this year is no big feat.

The defenses in this district outside of LM are not that good, but stafford, Sweeny and especially columbia have good offenses. Shutting them down is a solid accomplishment in my book

I was not aware that the LM defense only gave up 10 pts. so far. Sounds to me like LM is a team to be watched in the playoffs. That's a very top-notch stat.

Those 10 points in district came to us (Sweeny). We lost to La Marque 17-10 and we put the ball on the ground several times. I think if we play again we can beat LM. JMO

LM's DC, Mike Lawrence, is one of the best in the business. His defenses are always sound and very aggressive. He has only two starters back off last years defense, and the results have been pretty much the same. Val Allen #5 is a ball player!!! Good luck to all of District 24 in the playoffs!

Yup, 23-3A will get shut down and swept in a couple of weeks.

Did the Facts get it wrong? Wouldn't be the 1st time...
"With the game tied 3-3, Sweeny set up for a 39-yard field goal attempt by Blayne Bailey. On the play, the ball was flipped to Dorland Fields, who then tossed a 22-yard touchdown pass to Phillip Higgins with 3:39 left in the first half."

Fumbles count BIG time, and are often caused by the defense.

that also goes to show you just how good Navasota (and Coldspring) was last year....

And, if I remember correctly, at least one or two of Navasota's TD's came off of LM special team mistakes, so those points (although they count and are big in the playoffs) weren't really on the LM defense.

I remember it as a reverse pass, but it could have been.
