As I've stated before, Navasota seems to be in no man's land when it comes to 4A DIV 1.

I could see:

Navasota
Cleveland (shared a district back in the early 90s)
Splendora (shared a distirct back in the early 90s)
Huffman Hargrave
Sealy (Distance may be a factor to and from Sealy for the other schools. Then again, that will probably be the norm for this new setup)

OR

Navasota
China Spring
La Vega
Robinson
Taylor

I think you start from far West Texas and work your way East. Doing so the following teams should be DIV 1:
Clint Mountain View 851.5
San Elizario 1035
Fabens 712
Andrews 988
Big Spring
Levelland 793
Estacado 711
Abilene Wylie 1003
Pampa
Borger 799
DIV 2
Clint 601
Pecos 597
Monahans 560
Ft Stockton 600
Seminole
Lamesa 496
Brownfield 452.5
Shallowater 437
Dalhart
Perryton 622
Snyder 687
Sweetwater 535

Lubbock Cooper will be 5a with 1144. Anthony 201 will not opt up per Matt Stepp.
Teams possibly in play but will probably stay in 3a Tornillo 411 and Denver City 430.
No idea on districts still working on it.

Would be nice if the two El Paso area teams to reduce travel and since there are fewer teams in DIV II Region 1 is for them two to opt down!?!?!?

Plus be nice to keep Monahans out of that District! LOL

No one knows the cutoffs...they are just estimates given based on what's been turned in...its fluid....2 or 3 schools turn in an unexpected number and it's got a trickle down effect...

Matthew328
11-01-2013, 06:12 AM
Someone is gonna have to go to El Paso...Mountain View and San Elizario look to be Division I.....Clint will be Division II and Fabens is borderline....

in Division I I would almost guarantee Big Spring and Andrews move west but who will the other 2 lucky teams be?

in Division II you'll probably see Pecos, Monahans, Ft Stockton and maybe Greenwood?

Long road trips but football wise its just once in two years...won't have to do it for hoops probably

TarponFanInNorthTexas
11-01-2013, 08:48 AM
If I knew what numbers were turned in for teams from current districts 30, 31, and 32 I'd be able to fill out probable 16-4A Div. 1 and 16-4A Div. 2 districts.

I already have a general idea of what might happen, but some of the teams are borderline D1/D2 so I don't want to make any predictions until I see what numbers were turned in.

Yea, I forgot about the cutoffs and was thinking more geographically. Given the numbers about the only SA school I'd see working is Sam Houston, which doesn't do anything for me given the downward spiral of their program. Others in the area that might fit would be if Floresville and Medina Valley stayed 4a as they were both close to 1100 along with the big 3a schools of LV, Pleasanton, Somerset, Canyon Lake, and Boerne. Going to be interesting what they come up with.

I noticed Brownwood wasn't on the list.

ahs_indian_fan
11-01-2013, 09:35 AM
If the numbers are 695-1039 that leaves only about 75 teams in Division I ... only 58 on the old coach list but I just guessed that there are about 15 other teams that haven't emailed Matt yet. That's only 18-20 teams per region. That can't be right ... right?

Just a guess but you'd have to have at least 96 teams in a division or four six-team districts per region.

Anyone know the total number of schools?

Matthew328
11-01-2013, 09:57 AM
There's about 1070 schools that will play 11 man public school football in 2014. I've got just a little more than 600 listed, so there's a lot of unknowns out there which is why I'm hesitant to really lock in a cut line

it will be interesting to see how the districts will shake out...atleast the UIL is getting the map and colored map pins out earley this go around!

i would love Alvarado to be in a district that includes Stephenville, Brownwood, and Kennedale...MW and Springtown would be good too...and i know its a stretch..but AW would actually be better off going east and southeast..and before ccmom rolls her eyes...AW has got long road trips regardless which way, might as well go where there are decent restaurants and nice hotels if the need arises...Alvarado could go any direction except east/northeast/southeast...unless we get lumped in with dallas 3a schools.

I wouldn't mind that district, considering the alternatives. However, I'm not so sure we won't be hauling our cookies WAY out West. Somebody's gotta play those teams and there aren't a whole lot of prospects. We'll see. I'd much rather head East. I can drink faster the further East I go. ;)

Rouse is reporting 2128 so they are likely moving up and Marble Falls is reporting 1125. Most are saying that new cut off is going to be 1039, that being said Marble Falls won't be dropping down unless Dodge can get rid of about 100 kids. I see on the Old Coach web site that Liberty Hill has not posted its snap shot of current enrollment, where are they at now....my guess would be over 900 at least.

Escape? Sometimes I used to allow them to catch me, lol, depending on what she looked like, lol. There was a time when I was pretty fast on my feet, but I chose to slow down when the right one chased me, if you know what I mean. There's really some dolls around here, for sure. I can't see Liberty-Eylau being in the district you mentioned, seeing as how there's schools much closer that could make up its own district. I see Liberty-Eylau in the same district as Pleasant Grove, Paris, and North Lamar regardless of which direction the district takes.

LE should go Div 1 with 721...PG with 623 should go Div 2 as well as Atlanta...I assume Paris & North Lamar will be Div 1...who am I leaving out in the north east in 3A...3 Div 1 & 2 Div 2...where will they go?

Division 1

Stafford
El Campo
Brazosport
Bay City
West Columbia
Needville
Sealy (maybe) (could go in with Navasota District)

Division 2

La Marque
Sweeny
Wharton
Brookshire Royal (could go with Bellville/Columbus/La Grange/Caldwell)
Houston KIPP Sunnyside
Yoakum

Don't see the UIL breaking up Cuero and Yoakum. Plus, isn't there a 4A school closer than Yoakum to put in this mix. IE: Columbus. Boy, talking about a nightmare travel district for Yoakum here.

They may pull Columbus back in with us.

You're not leaving anyone out up that way. Most of the other schools are smaller than the current 3A with the exception of Texas High.

I think that Atlanta and Pleasant Grove are just going to have to do a lot of traveling south because they'd have to travel even farther to the west to find Div 2 schools.

I have a feeling the cutoff number may not be what Padilla thinks it is. I've always felt it'd be a bit higher than he's got it. But he's the expert.

How about a district with

Gilmer
Atlanta
Pleasant Grove
Gladewater
Spring Hill
Tatum

The UIL always works their way from top to bottom, and won't be using school size so much as they will the number of schools that fill each classification, and where they are located, starting with the inner city schools. The split could be anywhere from about 690 to 750, in my opinion. I do think it will be in the 725 range. If that happens, take Tatum south and put Pittsburg in this district.

Palestine westwood, I don't think so if they are saying the cutoff will be around 450. I think they are below that and not sure about Trinity either.

If it's in the 725 range, Liberty-Eylau would be D2 also as would Carthage. I personally would like this better. I miss the Carthage rivalry and I'll bet Carthage does also.
