Boring season for the polls. Not a lot of movement. Of course Gainesville still isn't getting respect.

Hate to agree with you on anything, Keith, but I think Gainesville is a Top 10 team after watching Decatur Friday against the Bulls. Leps beat the Eagles 48-23 and, IMO, the Decatur QB and receivers are as good as almost anybody in 3A.

Bullaholic.. I know you don't get out much these days. But, Decatur wouldn't hold a candle to the top 10 teams in 3A. Gainesville may give some of the top 10 a good game. I watched the Alvarado/Decatur game. Alvarado's uncharacteristicly average 3A defense held them in check most of the night. QB is pretty good and one receiver stood out. Other than that, very average team. A better team than they've had in a while. But not in the same conversation with the top teams in 3A my friend.

Hollywood, I think you are just blinded by all those Yellowjackets flying in front of your eyes and ran into a tree and have gone into "Rocket" mode. Now i know you don't think any of these North Texas boys like Graham, Gainesville, and Argyle are that good so all I can tell you in the immortal words of PPHSFan is---"hide and watch."

LOL.. I knew I could get a rise out of you. Seriously, there are several teams flying under the radar so to speak. Gainesville maybe one of them.

I will say that Decatur showed some signs of greatness. Just not consistant. Slow tempo. They could not stop an average run team that cannot throw the ball. That's a fact.

I love this time of year. There seems to always be a dark horse waiting in the shadows. Will it be Gainseville this year? ;)

Nothing like an undefeated team that went 12-1 last year, reaching the state quarterfinals being called a "darkhorse."

No respect needed, just ask the good folks at Burnet how that worked out for them a decade ago.

WO-S is drifting under the radar... watch out. We lost 34-37 to 4A PN-G first game of the season in a rebuilding year then subsequently beat Beaumont Central 31-7, who is 4-1 in that 20-4A District behind state-ranked Nederland. It's a rebuilding year but no district team has come within 3 TDs of us. Silsbee will be the big game week 10.

Exactly. Gilmer lost to a team not even in the UIL last year and never got any respect/love until nearly three months later after the Argyle game in Mesquite.

Stephenville should enjoy not being rated in the top 3. Their team has gotten plenty of attention over the years, and as long as they know they are a very good team it really shouldn't matter. According to the strength of schedules posted earlier, both Gilmer and Argyle have played tougher ones this season and both are undefeated. Stephenville suffered a shellacking by Aledo for their only loss.....unfortunate, but that's the way it goes. Who's to say Gilmer or Argyle may not have lost as badly.....just the Stephenville backers??? Ha Ha, of course.....what would you expect them to say! They're not gonna say their team is overrated, lol.

Pretty much hit the nail on the head regal. Stephenville knows their strength, don't need polls to determine it. Stephenville is undefeated against 3A teams since 2010. They have only lost to 1 3A team and that was the Brownwood 2010 team. Just a little HS football trivia. ;)

Will WO-S be D2 again, or D1 this year?
What teams do you see as the biggest challenge in your region bracket?

I've always said polls don't mean doodley squat anyway. They're fun to look at, but you still have to prove you belong there. Stephenville did play a VERY good team which resulted in their only loss. I think it's just "how" they lost that the pollsters look at. Stephenville will make it at least to the semifinals, in my opinion. Then, it's time to prove who belongs where. Honestly, I don't think polls matter -- it's where you END the season that matters.

WO-S will be going D1 for the first time in 3A.We are the third team in numbers behind Silsbee and Bridge City.BC will not make it in this year.We have a showdown with Silsbee the last game and that will decide the seeding.#1 seed will be in the top bracket which is the weaker bracket. The bottom bracket has the big boys in Navasota and Carthage.Really don't make much difference, you Going to have to face one of these beast sonner or later.

In HS football, especially. Teams come on late sometimes. Most that are very familiar with HS football know when they see good football being played. Aledo is one of the best teams I've seen in a long time that early in a season. I think Stephenville would give them a much better game at this point in the season, but still not enough to win IMO. Aledo doesn't have a weakness anywhere on the field and is 2 deep at every position. Crazy.
