So what happened? Doesn't look like runner was even safe.

Should have been an inning ending double play.

Third base ump called obstruction on 3rd baseman Middlebrooks, homeplate ump allowed the run.

MLB rule 7.06 by rule this was correctly called
"If a play is being made on the obstructed runner, or if the batter-runner is obstructed before he touches first base, the ball is dead and all runners shall advance, without liability to be put out, to the bases they would have reached, in the umpire’s judgment, if there had been no obstruction. The obstructed runner shall be awarded at least one base beyond the base he had last legally touched before the obstruction. Any preceding runners, forced to advance by the award of bases as the penalty for obstruction, shall advance without liability to be put out.

It was a good call. He'd have been safe if not for middlebrooks being in his way.

Yup, with or without intent, it was obstruction.

Just never seen a game end that way...much less a WS game.

Saltalamacchia should have never made the throw to get the runner out at 3rd, there was no reason to risk it

Has been a great series so far. Gotta go with the Cards. Disappointed not to see Shelby Miller in the rotation though.

This is a Brownwood / Stephenville World Series. Both guys haven't got to play but at least they are on the 40 man rosters.

Some crazy endings thus far. I'm pulling for the Duck Commander crew. Go Sox.

Lol... yeah the Sox have the bearded look going. Good stuff.

It's been one of the best World Series in a long time.

Wacha and Middlebrooks are both from Texarkana. Wacha - Pleasant Grove, Middlebrooks - Liberty Eylau.

I'm not convinced it was the right call. Go to Barstoolsports.com and they have still photos of Joyce's head when the play happened, he wasn't even looking at the situation with Craig running over Middlebrooks. Craig also was 2-3 feet to the left of the base path, some of his first steps are in the grass, when he took off towards home plate, causing him to run over Middlebrooks. Also, Barstool may be blocked on some work computers. Some of the content is NSFW lol.

Dang, the Rangers could have used that pitcher this season. Congrats to the Red Sox. Wonder how fast those beards will come off? They may have started something here. Growing a beard in the post season was always a hockey thing.

Red Sox lineup was just plain filthy this year. I think they had 7 or 8 guys hitting around or over .300 and a couple others in the .280 or so range.

Quality at bats every time somebody walked up to the plate and solid pitching

And the Dodgers for taking all those bad contracts off their hands.....
