District 8-3a Football Standings [Archive]

After the games last night the standings look like this...
Liberty Hill 3-0
Llano 2-1
Brownwood 1-2
Lampassas 1-2
Burnet 1-2.
Garesville 1-2
The playoff race is pretty tight and has the possibility to create some interesting ties for the finals spots in the playoffs.
Next weeks games are Llano vs Burnet, Gatesville vs Brownwood and Lampassas vs Liberty Hill.

Who woulda thunk it! 4 biggest schools in the district sitting in the bottom of the standings. :thinking:

So for those who think because a school has a larger enrollment they are entitled, wrong. Or those that whine about the larger schools beating up (bullying) the smaller schools... Wrong!

They predicted the wood or burnet would take the district early on, then as things started to evolve one of them started to think LH might have a shot, but for the most part still kept on the Bwood or Burnet path. Same with Hollywood. That's OK - we know what we got. Not world beaters, but sure as hell are dawg and lion beaters. :D

I didn't mean predicted the finish correctly, but that they predicted the district would be a slugfest and they weren't really confident who would win it.

LH finishes 5-0 with Burnet at 3-2 and are in the playoffs

I think Bwd vs Gatesville and Bwd vs Llano can go either way. I think our offense will score points on both, but our D will allow points by both as well. If Bwd loses both, then Burnet gets the top D1 seed and Gatesville takes the second D1 seed. LH is top D2 seed and Llano is second D2 seed.

If Bwd beats Gatesville and loses to Llano, Burnet gets the top D1 seed and Bwd gets the second D1 seed. LH is top D2 seed and Llano is second D2 seed.

My humble opinion on how it will playout.

LH D2 W
Burnet D1 W
Llano D2 R
Lampasas D1 R

LH is better than most thought this year (except us homers) and will win district outright this season. Burnet, is on a roller coaster, but their offense just needs a kick start to get moving again (defense is solid). Llano is better than many thought and i said this a week or so back, lots of good athletes. Lampasas - hell they are surprising everyone and now have some momentum and will be looking to knock off the Hill this week.

This is all based on my assumption that Llano takes Bwood in a close one and Bwood takes Gatesville.

Secondary got a work out last week against burnet and now the interior line, ends, and Linebackers will get theirs. I would like to see LH offense step up their game some. The O-line needs to generate a consistent push to allow the backs that 1-3 yards past LOS for something to develop. Against Burnet, we did not generate that push and I saw too much standing around by O-linemen. Because that is where I played, I watch them particularly hard and if they are standing around after a play, they didn't do their job. We've seen them do it before, so we know they can do it.

I don't think this is going to happen baring everyone stays healthy. But stranger things have happened. Like panfan sporting his custom ordered blue boxers with badger logos to the game this Friday! :wave:

Lampasas has only won 3 games all season against a down China Spring, decent Llano, and struggling Brownwood. If Liberty Hill loses this game, you might get past Hillsboro or Glen Rose in the first round.

*Edit: Llano beat Lampasas! :eek: Lamp beat a horrible Smithville. Geez. What has this world come to?

Hey , cant win every year ! Was a good game and we had a chance to win / tie at the end . Who the hell would have thought it would have been 14 - 7 , both D's played their best game of the year . I was going to thank you guys for helping us out but Brownwood lost and messed that deal all up !

I enjoyed the Llano game sitting with an (MY lol) LH ex-OL and getting perspective from someone who's been there, done that (a LOT).

I really feel it's a toss up at this point. Our offense should score enough points to win, but our defense may give up enough to lose. I can't make a prediction for either this week or next.

Just a few more play makers for the Jackets this season on both sides of the ball. It's starting to build. The playoffs start in 14 days! Yes, 14 days. Seems like it was just last week when we all had the 2-a-day butterflies. Stephenville has developed several key players that make their offense almost unstoppable again this season. Just a huge arsenal of weapons offensively and the defense is ahead of where the 2012 D was, IMO. Once the DE returns in a couple of weeks, should be even stronger.

It's really just more frustration. I think everyone knew going in to this season, the Lions were going to be young and unproven. But would improve as the season went. Who knows, still 2 games left in district. Make or break time now. Adversity builds character. :clap:

panfan, on a series note, I just enjoy seeing these kids become young men. I've known several players and their families on this years team and last years team for that matter, since they were in diapers. I have nephews and daughters that will be going through for the next several years. I know several of the coaches and their families. I know what's coming up. Some really strong classes in both boys and girls athletics with talent and strong work ethic. I wouldn't have them in any other school system than where they are now. It's going to be a fun ride for while my friend. :2thumbsup:

Ville plays big bad Hillsboro tonight! Last home game of the season, unless Stephenville and Brownwood meet in the first round and flip home and home. Not likely, but never say never. :cheerl: :1popcorn:
