KIPP SUNNYSIDE (0-1, 3-4) AT COLUMBIA (0-2, 2-5)

7:30 p.m. Friday, Griggs Field

LAST YEAR: 54-5 Columbia

OVERVIEW: Only one team will stay home from the playoffs from District 24-3A, and the Roughnecks don’t want it to be them. Sunnyside is coming off a rough outing against La Marque, while Columbia played some tough football but still sits winless in district play. The Roughnecks will go up against a Senator defense that is allowing just 284.6 yards a game. Columbia’s offense is gaining 397.4 yards a contest, with sophomore running back DaKarius Bell (156-1,270 rushing yards, 8.14 yards per carry, 19 TDs) leading the way. Junior quarterback Jarius Kesee (113-53 receptions, 789 yards, six TDs) continues to learn the position in his first full season under center.

Sunnyside is averaging 227.7 yards a game with senior quarterback David Lopez (74-60, 543 yards, 10 interceptions, six TDs) and junior tailback Crayg Smith (79 carries, 464 yards, 5.87 per carry, TD) leading the way. KIPP has fumbled the ball 18 times this season, losing eight of them. The Senators have the top two receivers in the district with Lawrence Mallet (17-303 yards, four TDs) and Smith (16-216 yards, two TDs).

DANBURY (3-0, 7-0) AT TIDEHAVEN (2-2, 3-5)

7 p.m. Friday, Delvin L. Taska Stadium.

LAST YEAR: 20-3 Danbury

OVERVIEW: Well-rested coming off a bye week, the Panthers will try to pick up where they left off. First up are the Tidehaven Tigers on the road. So far, Danbury has outscored district opponents 160-48 as the high-powered offense is generating 489.3 yards a game. The Panthers are also second in district on defense (249.9 yards) and have 10 interceptions to top the district as well.

Tidehaven is averaging 280.5 offensive yards a game while giving up 254.3 yards. The Tigers have lost 14 of 23 fumbles this season. Eric Villarreal is second in district with 702 rushing yards on 116 carries, five touchdowns and a 6.05 per carry average. Quarterback Brandon Litzau has thrown for 813 yards on 55 completions with five interceptions and three touchdowns. Since beginning play in 1974 the Tigers (4-31-2) have dominated the series, but the Panthers have won the last two meetings.

TEXAS CHRISTIAN (0-5) AT BRAZOSPORT CHRISTIAN (3-0, 7-0)

7:30 p.m. Friday, old Angleton Stadium

LAST YEAR: 62-13 BCS

OVERVIEW : T he Eagles continue to rack up the points and the wins but had a close call against Magnolia Legacy last week. On Friday, BCS will celebrate homecoming and will continue with an offense that is averaging 78 points a game and have gone past 100 points in three of their last four games. The current 540 points scored by the team is just 218 shy of the all-time scoring mark for a season.

So far the Tigers this season have lost to three teams (Sanchez Charter, 54-33; Magnolia Legacy, 75-12; Kingwood Northeast, 40-22) that BCS has beaten.

WEST COLUMBIA CHARTER (2-3) AT PASADENA FAITH ACADEMY (0-4)

4 p.m. Friday, Faith Field

LAST YEAR: First meeting

OVERVIEW: This will be the first meeting between these two six-man private schools as West Columbia Charter is hoping to get a win so they can get an invitation to the Texas Christian Athletic League playoffs. This is the Warriors’ final r season game. Last week, Charter dropped a tough 38-35 contest to Crosby Victory and Praise.

Faith Christian has not scored a point this season.
