When I was in school we were sitting just under 1000 in enrollment. More and more students are choosing to attend Anderson Shiro, 9 miles away, Montgomery, 25 miles, and Magnolia, 20 miles. All share boundaries with Navasota ISD.

On a brighter not, Walmart has finally decided to replace the current store with a super center. Of course, that will mean more stores and restaurants surrounding the Walmart. The SEC is also having a huge impact to the local economy. The Aggie Express will soon be built connecting 249 in Tomball to highway 6 in Navasota. And, the Southern end of College Station is rapidly growing. I'm sure it's just a matter of time before Navasota will start to feel the effects.

For starters we had a very large senior class last year. We had I believe about 140 seniors with the average classes being from 100-120 of the other three. Other than that Im not sure.

Thats part of the problem. I am friends with a bunch of guys that graduated from WHS. I can think of only one who has chosen to stay and raise a family there. There are several that live in El Campo now and most if the others are in Sugar Land/Katy.

But, I also know of at least 10 families that ship their kids over to El Campo for school to keep them out of WISD. I'm sure there are more that I am not aware of.

Here's what I just counted in the different regions for predicted enrollment numbers of 700 students or better:
Region 1>>>>26 schools out of 46
Region 2>>>>19 schools out of 44
Region 3>>>>22 schools out of 52
Region 4>>>>22 schools out of 46

Surprise, Surprise, Surprise....Region 1 has the most schools with larger enrollments. I would think 700 students to be around the avg. size for 3A, but didn't calculate what the avg. enrollment works out to be.....just figured a school with 700 enrollment in the 2012 realignment was larger than average.

Don't quote me on this, but most of the Chapel Hill folks are saying that they around 1200 or more students right now. From what I've heard from the Gilmer school board president, he says Gilmer's enrollment is at 680. That was a couple of weeks before snapshot day, however.

regaleagle
10-24-2013, 07:49 AM
Furthermore....if you took the 188 schools in 3A this past realignment and divided that number in half, you would have the number 94. The number of schools in the previous post shows 89 schools with an enrollment of 700 students or more. Some are on the cusp between 690-699 students. And these are only preliminary numbers....we don't know what the exact "snapshot" numbers are yet.

Argyle would have over 700 if they did not send so many kids to Liberty Christian on realignment years. lol

The enrollment is right about there.

The Freshmen have between 250 and 300 in the class, They were the biggest class ever to finish LHJH last year.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Celina overtake Argyle's enrollment numbers in the coming years. I think that area will start growing faster, and Argyle is somewhat limited in jurisdiction and area. Also, the city council has set limits on subdivisions, land development, etc. AND Liberty Christian does pull some AISD students away from AHS.

From what I have heard, Celina has the largest (area-wise) district in Collin County. That may or may not be true, but if it is, Celina will end up in the next classification much quicker than anybody they have been playing. Should get even bigger than Prosper.

I was reading the Abilene News after the Monahans / Wylie game. I came acroos an article that was talking about Wylie ISD needing to and is building a couple of new schools. In the article it stated that current high school enrollment was at 1007 and projected to climb higher with all the new houses that were being built within the district.

Maybe so now I guess, a month later after this story 17 kids may have moved out.

I just re-read the story written/published Sep 10, 2013 and I was wrong with the number... it say 1004 students. It's a subscription web newspaper (Abilene Reporter). So I can't share the link.

Between 620-630 for Celina sounds about right. They go up 40-50 every time. The real growth won't hit until the tollway is built up through Prosper and that's at least five years away. They are expanding Preston Road, however, and it's a mess right now.

The school to watch for growth is Anna. They had 264 in kindergarten last year. That's how Prosper got started.
