A very reliable source over on the Houston Rocket's message board just posted that he's been told that Bum Phillips is in really bad shape & might not make it through the night.

I'm too young to have really been an Oilers fan, but Bum's meant so much to the city of Houston over the years. It'll be sad to see him go.

I will miss Bum, I knew him pretty well. I lived in the Sugarland area in late 80's till 96 and he still lived over in Dewalt just a little south on Hwy 6. Went to his place several times, listened to many great stories. Even though he wasn't great he liked to come out (usually with Earl) and play some casual golf. That was a great time in my life, knowing Bum Phillips.....God Bless, RIP.

Played dominoes with him a couple of times over in Richmond. What great down to earth guy.

I never got to play dominoes with Bum, but back in the 80's I was at State Fairgrounds race track in New Orleans and he took a pizz in in the urinal right next to me.

I had the pleasure of going to school with one of his daughters. My heart goes out to the entire Phillips' family, Bum was definitely a Houston legend.
