The Indians were in tight ball game with Hillsboro midway thru the 3rd qtr. It was 28-21 Alvarado before the Indians erupted for 30 unanswered points to close out the game. Hillsboro is one of the worst teams in region 1. I will chock some of it up to looking a head for Alvarado, but with some of their struggles this season, I believe the Jackets roll in this one.

i think Stephenville has lazy JH coaches who think they are too good to let atleast their A team play the district schedule instead of forcing our JH coaches to double schedule games with kennedale and glen rose..i dont care what their reasoning is, its still BS.

my assessment of the Jackets, based on the live game i saw and some video..as good as Aledo is this year..last years jacket team would have played atleast competitivly with them this year...QB flawless mechanics, superior passing ability, runs well, class athlete..doesnt have grasp of offense like Jones did..but improving. RB good on his way to greatness. WRs #13 is just a damn good football player, TE very good, #5 spark plug, runs good routes, hustles..perfect slot reciever..rest of wrs good/not great but still better than what alot of teams have..OL not huge, but not small either..good unit. Defense smallish, but quik gets timely stops consistantly..good unit............Jackets a definite championship contender. Alvarado will have to play its best game, with a little luck thrown in to have a chance for an upset...but, its possible

Our Rb's will run all over the Jackets Defense, we just need to score in the redzone and protect the football which has plagued us early in the season. I can't remember a game the Indians played in when we were out of it by halftime, and don't see it happening in this one! Although some of the rushing yards are against the Jackets reserves, most are against the #1's on defense. That gives us a chance to control the ball and the clock to keep the Jackets offense off the field.

La Vega was more of a threat running the ball than Alvarado will be from what I saw. Unless Alvarado has a secret weapon or have been holding out, their O is not going to be as effective as it was last season. And their pass D is very suspect. toddg knows what's coming, he's just playing the homer card as I would if I were in his shoes.

In my opinion the pressure is all on Ville to dominate and Alvarado to not get embarrassed. Either way, our players will play hard to the end. Have not been to Tarleton stadium in a while. Is this the cricket infested stadium or am I getting this confused with another stadium out that way?

And I agree... you never know. Look at the Texas/OU result. Who would have thought in their wildest dreams that Texas could beat OU this season with all the negatives surrounding the Horns this season. But on the flip side, everyone knew they had the talent... just a matter of confidence. I think it will be key for the Jackets to not go into this game over condident. And knowing the coaching staff, they won't.

The progressive improvements each week that the Stephenville coaching staff and team has been able to make is just impressive as anything I've seen out of a HS football program. Strategic planning to peak at the right time is the key. That's what seperates the good programs from the great programs. Very impressive.

the Indians are just determined to play well and take their shot at the champs..its not revenge per say, its a chance at redemption..and making improvement..the coaches and players are prideful as is the community.

Great to hear! I was getting a little worried there wouldn't be enough from the Indians this season. I know practice was the most intense so far this season in the Ville. Remember it is Homecoming this week. Gotta win big or get off the field when its Homecoming. So far, Alvarado is 0-1 being other teams Homecoming opponent this season. ;)

Best Aledo team they have ever fielded is this years team! We know the 3-peat days were mainly because of Gray, a decent QB and a good O-line. That was their 2nd best team to ever play the game.

As for Alvarillo... I don't put much stock in how JV's perform on a yearly basis UNLESS (I'll use the term age pure) they are mostly age pure Soph's with a few Jr's. Season records aren't the "tell all" for the future at the varsity level. You have to think that some teams move their most gifted Soph's and Jr's up in 3A and below programs. Some freshman are exceptions. This isn't to ever discout a "groups" potential but to say its not always the case. ;)

The 2011 Indians were very good! They would have given Stephenville 2012 fits if they played them in district. But once the playoffs started, there wasn't a 3A team that could have beaten Stephenville 2012 IMO. And that includes the 2011 Alvarado, 2011 CH, 2010 Brownwood, 2010 Carthage, 2012 Navasota... The list goes on. They were that good in the playoffs. IMO

Bah hahahaha! Are you kiddin me? Partly true.. Stidham is not as sharp as Jones... Yet. He has really worked the chemistry each week to the point he's more comfortable. Remember, he's just a JR. He's ahead of where Jones was as a JR IMO.

Now for the deep ball comment? Are you serious? He's had some misfortune on timing and so forth, but some of that is on the receivers as well. He actually has a better deep ball than Jones. Let me let you in on a secret... Jones wasn't that much more impressive if any at this point in the season last year. I can recall there were times when I questioned his ability to throw accurately mid season. He found that groove by playoff time. Be patient grass-hoppa.

I have seen Stidham live, and in person..and he is without a doubt the most fundamentaly sound QB i have seen since McElroy at Southlake..very strong arm, with good touch..excellent footwork..which means he probably can throw the deep ball with the best of them..it just so happens the jacket offense doesnt revolve around low percentage plays that req 7 step drops...is he better than Jones was last year? right now no...but Jones wasnt better than Jones during the middle of his junior year either..

Sweet went to the Ortho today and is now In a brace and not a cast. He can run routes and catch balls but still no contact. His finger is healed completely. His arm/wrist he broke against Dillard will continue to heal over district play. He will be back for the third season/Playoffs 100%. This will help on the outside and with Jones and Mookie you got 3 receivers well over 6 foot who can run solid routes. With all the other weapons it's going to be a good playoff run.

It's like a mad science project going on behind laboratory doors during the week and they give us a little sample at a time. The formula starts with the basic ingredients in the Spring. They formulate, experiement, assess, go back to the lab after each weeks results, retweak and continue to improve. Formula for success. Fun to watch.

I agree, I got to watch the GR game last week and he missed on two deep balls that I can remember. Both it looked like to me the receivers slowed down or stopped running. One, he was on his own 30ish and launched it on a rope that landed in the end zone. Very impressive.

Just wait until Sweet comes back in 3-4 weeks. Stephenville will have an arsenal of mass distruction by Nov 15-16. I've been very impressed in how the players have responded and developed to this point. Kudos not only to the players, but the coaches and entire program as well! I also really like this schedule Stephenville has. It allows the team to hammer out any kinks, enhance execution, gain valuable playing time for the entire team, and build team confidence. It worked out really well last season. ;) And this years team has the same type of confidence and talent to repeat. Feel for anyone in their way.

That's what I thought. Yes, having 2 way starters, hurts big time. My SR year at the Wood, there were 6-7 of us that did.. Pretty sad for a 4A school. We had the case of "injuryitus" that season. Didn't have a choice.

Whoa! How the heck did I miss this?? I have no idea about any of that stuff. If you know Stephenville's program, they may come off as "cocky", but it's actually a confidence that is built through the program. An expectation to succeed and do it with hard work. "Busting mine to bust yours" type of attitude.

If you are eluding to Stephenville being overconfident, no way. Coaches are too good to allow that to be happening. Stephenville respects Alvarado's program and team as I do. A little "friendly" banter never hurt anyone though! :D :evil:

i think a 200ypg avg. is a pretty good accomplishment! im an Alvarado fan through thick and thin, i am an alum class of 85', i have 3 boys..1 on JV, 1 8th grd purple, and 1 in grade school..and you wont see me on here minimizing the efforts of any Indian or team..this is HS football. support has to be unwavering.

She is in the middle of conference play now, she actually started her first game two weeks ago. There was a bit of a learning curve transitioning to college soccer, but she's rocking and rolling now!

That's awesome! Congrats to her. From what you told me, she loves the game.

This U12 Comp girls team I'm coaching is really doing well. So far we're undefeated 5-0. GF- 32 GA-1.

We took them to the TCU vs Oklahoma State womens soccer game a couple of weeks ago. They soaked in the atmosphere. Womens soccer can be pretty vicious! The girls learn that pretty quick.

Actually, it could be closer than that or worse. It all depends on how Stephenville's defense plays their run. Unless they have some tricks up their sleeves, Stephenville will be able to make stops and score as often as they want IMO. Alvarado's pass D isn't as strong as it was last year. Stephenville has so many quick misdirection zone read plays, the Indians will look more like beheaded roosters. There are run and pass threats all over the field. It all hinges on if Alvarado can keep possession of the ball with long sustaining drives. Try to keep Stidham and the O off the field so to speak. ;)
