It's the start of district play for two long time rivals. Madisonville always plays Navasota tough including a loss to the eventual state champions 38-0 last season. The only common opponent is the Fairfield Eagles. The Eagles led Madisonville at the half 43-6. In the game versus Navasota, the Eagles led 23-14 at the half and in the 4th, the Eagles led Navasota 30-24 with the Rattlers driving before they turned the ball over for the 5th time. The final turnover, a pick 6 with 2 minutes to go, gave the Eagles a 44-24 win.
Navasota should win this matchup, but as I pointed out, no matter what sport it is, look for Madisonville and Navasota to battle it out until the end.
