Lol... gotta love the title of this thread.
First 66 invites me to his place after 75 had to work the next day and bowed out. He brings out this almost maroonish (funny the color of the Pirates) iced liquid and he calls it wine. I'm game, while he pours me a cup he warns me it's a little stronger than most wines. I first smell it and raise an eyebrow http://images.bravenet.com/brpics/smilie/10_confused.gif hmmmmm. We talk Pirate football as I take the first sip and low and behold, this shtuff is good. I've had wine plenty of times and this is above average. No kidding. After a cup and a half, I notice the trees start to look greener and the sky bluer. Then I realize it's still night... Hehe, it was a little strong. Just kidding on the last part. :D :D :D
66, is a great guy and good wine maker...
Nice talking to ya buddy...

Well, this is Blackberry wine, this batch was made from "canned" concentrate from Oregon, the previous batch I made was from fresh Texas Dewberries. I also have a batch of Strawberry and a batch of Peach wines. Real wine gurus say it ain't wine if it has no grapes, but I say "You make what you want, and I'll make what I want!". You guys are gonna have to come down and try some! wink

Tell me where I need to go and I will be there. Do you sell the stuff or is it for personal use only?

No, can't sell it, that would be illegal. I do give some away occasionally. I have it here in Magnolia with me.

I grew up with my step dad making 10 to 15 gallons of wine each year. We had all kinds of wine (peach, apricot, all kinds of grape, mulberry, watermelon and so on). The rankest wine that he ever made was mesquite bean wine. Boy that stuff tasted like paint thinner. He never threw any of it out though. He would just say, "It isn't good enough to drink but it is too good to throw away". I think that I still have a bottle of the mesquite bean wine somewhere in the attic from 1986. I here that it was a good year for mesquite beans...of course every year in west texas is good for mesquite beans!!

Vet,
Speaking of mesquites.....do you remember a few years ago, maybe 3 or 4, when all the "mesquite" bugs were flying around during football season??

http://fp.funfiles.plus.com/anim_emoticons/help_wanted_message.gif

I remember going to the games and they were all flying around, I guess attracted to the lights, they would get caught in your hair and clothes. Boy, you COULD NOT get them to let go!!

I am not anxious to see those bugs anytime again soon!!!!!! http://fp.funfiles.plus.com/anim_emoticons/grinning_and_saying_no.gif

Down at Sinton, insect infestations at the games come in the form of crickets, millions of them. You don't dare yell or yawn.
