Teams you would like to see scheduled in 2014-2015

Lets say you have to schedule 4 non district games who would you schedule? I would like to see Celina step up the competition and play the following.

Sherman 4a
Good team year in and year out generally goes 2 or 3 rounds deep in the playoffs every year. Would be a very good challenge for both teams.


Gilmer 3a
Speed, speed and speed. This game will show you your weaknesses.

Then schedule 2 teams that you should beat that will challenge you some.

Depending on who is in Sweeny's new 3A District I would like for us to play the following.

Columbia - Battle of the Bernard Rival (Division 1)
Bellville - Played 5 of last 6 years
Cuero - Haven't played them since 2005 in the playoffs
El Campo - We use to play them every year until 2004

If we could play 5 non district games
East Bernard - Haven't played since 1955.

La Grange should schedule Bastrop(4a) and Wimberley.

Wylie plays some very good teams in pre-district... would love to see matchups with Celina, Burnet (have an excuse to go to the lake), Shallowater and Cuero.

It would be nice to see Stephenville get some quality 3A opponents. However, I would guess they would stay with Aledo, and I'm not sure on Monterrey Tech. I'd like to see Navasota or maybe Celina also. However, S-ville tends to have issues scheduling so I'm not sure how it will all play out.

Seriously, though, I wouldn't mind seeing some of these matchups:

Gilmer vs. Carthage - a budding rivalry of two of the best programs in East Texas

Gilmer vs. Kilgore - chances are we won't be in the same division next year

Gilmer vs. Whitehouse (4A) - Just a matchup I'd like to see

Gilmer vs. Stephenville - Katie bar the door in this one

Gilmer vs. Gladewater - We got to have a week off after those first 4!:thumbsup: Besides, it IS Gladewater! We will probably be in the same district, however.

I can assure you right now Celina will not schedule Stephenville that would mean a possible loss! Although I think it would be great to see what you need to work on and how you stack up against the best, but W's seem to be more important.

Lets put some miles on that bus.I remember reading in Sinton paper of Stephenville playing Sinton which would of been this past week but Sinton coach decided against facing a team like Stephenville before district so Sinton looked elsewhere and we ended up scheduling a 5a Laredo team.

La Vega- We have problems with the Pirates in the playoffs
Gilmer/Carthage- Two of the many beasts from the East- Played at a mutual site on a Saturday
Celina/Stephenville- Tradition, history, great programs
WO-Stark/PNG/LCM- Any team form SE Texas

I don't think you are going to see El Campo schedule a lot of 3a's in non-district and probably no 2a's.

Gillis likes his teams to be tested in pre-district and I think he thinks the best chance to do that is to play 4a's. It just so happens that Waller and Bay City have been down the last few years. Foster has a really solid 4a program.
