Some are going to say that the defense was good because they got a pick 6 but outside of that play, our defense got abused. Pass rush was almost non-existent and the coverage was brutal.

I thought we had good CBs.

Rivers torched them for over 400 yards. Apparently we don't have good corners. That defense was nearly dead last in everything.... until they played those lack luster Cowboys. Then the Chargers look like world beaters. Funny they came out in the 2nd half with an adjusted game plan and Dallas came out like the game was over. Without the pick 6 Dallas scored 2 TD's.

Ed Hochuli is the absolute worst white hat in the league. He never ever called San Diego for holding.

Bad playcalling when up 21-10. They kept throwing the ball instead of going balanced and running it.

My brother is a BIG Texans fan, and has been a Cowboys fan since we were kids, but he can't stand JJ. He says the Texans just need to bench Schaub in favor of EITHER of the other two qbs. I'm starting to believe he may be right about that. They seem to have enough other talent, and even Case Keenum could make the Texans a winner with their weapons. He also said the owner gave Kubiak an ultimatum to win it this season....or else. He says Kubiak is too conservative (in his offensive strategy) for today's NFL.

I don't necessarily disagree, however, after the TD to go up 21-10, SD went right down the field to get a fg. 21-13. They got the opening kick off to start the 3rd and went right down to score and just like that, it's 21-20.

The offense wasn't Great but they didn't have the ball much at all in the 3rd. The defense couldn't get a stop.

Wasn't the corners fault linebackers got beat for all 3 touchdowns. Just because a team passes the ball well doesn't mean it's always the corners fault.

You're right. But TD's weren't the only passes thrown. Mo Claiborne must be hurt. He was getting beat like a rented mule.

I will agree that the defense did not show up yesterday and primarily the LBs were very poor in both the passing defense and the run defense. But let's not confuse the fact that Philip Rivers made a bunch of throws that NOBODY could have defended. He was in prime form in this game. The first score where Woodhead beat the LB was covered about as good as it could be covered but the throw was PERFECT.(and not to mention Woodhead got away with a pushoff to get a little seperation). And this was the theme the entire day. The Dallas D-line could not get enough pressure against a makeshift Chargers O-line and if you give Rivers time he will destroy a defense. And for some reason the Dallas d-back don't seem to be able to cover anybody at times. Is it scheme that has them so out of position so much?
But it all goes back to what i said 2 weeks ago: YOU WILL NOT WIN MANY GAMES IF YOUR OFFENSE CAN'T SCORE POINTS. 14 points by the offense yesterday should get someone fired. End of story...... Not trying to make excuses but let's not lose sight of the few FACTS about this: The Cowboy's defense was defending the #6 ranked offense in the NFL and a HOF QB while the Dallas offense was playing against the #30 ranked defense in the league that had a ton of injuries in their backfield. This is the second game in a row this offense hasn't scored against very low ranked defenses. They needed to run the ball a hell of lot more. Murray averaged 5 yard a carry in his limited carries so why didn't the Cowboy's run the ball more? To me Murray seems way slower than normal and without any real explosion in his running and he still rushed for a 5 yard average. The whole Dallas team only rushed 16 times for a 5.8 yard average yesterday.

Dallas had 10 possessions and San Diego had 12 possessions. Dallas averaged 2.55 per possession or 25.57 minutes of the game. San Diego's 12 possessions equaled 34.03 Time of Possession or 2.83 minutes per possession. San Diego averaged just 26 seconds more on their possessions than Dallas did. Dallas scored on 2 of their 10 possessions. The defense was not good in this game but let's not act like the offense didn't get enough opportunity.............

Dallas led 21-10...next two possestions resulted in 21-20...I do not care how you feel about the defense..excuse the fact the D gave up 500 yards of offense and all that but the simple fact is..the D simply had to make one stop in two possesions...and could not..that is where the game was won and lost

Yeah, there's no question the offense has some blame with drops and poorly timed penalties, but there is no sugar coating the fact that the defense got steam rolled.

This was from sturms article today. Sums it up pretty good.

When catchable balls are not secured on 3rd Downs in this league, you lose. It is just that simple. And whether it was Dwayne Harris, Jason Witten, or the unstoppable Dez Bryant, they all took turns allowing balls to hit the ground on catches we have seen them make. All 3 turned into drive stopping moments, and when you only get a few drives because your defense is allowing the Chargers to stay on the field the entire game, well, you understand how the Cowboys took a double-digit lead just before halftime and turned it into a 2-score loss.

caleb_mccaig

The Tampa 2 is a bend but don't break defense. They run zone coverage every play, obviously good qb's are going to get their yards on this defense. However, we really were hurt by the big play yesterday and having zero pass rush. The defense isn't in as bad of shape as many of you are making it out to be. Claiborne is hurt, he separated his shoulder against NY. The one good thing is, is that NFC East appears to be down, so hopefully the Cowboys can take advantage this year. Once you're in the playoffs anything can happen.

This is SD drives after trailing 21-10

An eight-play, 66-yard drive for a field goal.
A 10-play, 80-yard drive for a touchdown.
A 13-play, 81-yard drive for a field goal.
A six-play, 80-yard drive for a touchdown.
