In order to make that leap, FF would need to dominate a high rated team.

From just reading the posts here and about the game Friday nite, I'd say Fairfield has now accomplished that feat as well. In fact, they have done everything necessary so far to gain a spot in the Top Ten, without question. Their stats look very impressive also. Seems they have all the ingredients most SC contenders need to be considered a real contender. IMO, not having FF as one of your Tier One teams after the halfway point in the regular season is just crazy. They've earned my vote, anyway.

If you will list all the 3A teams and their records so far, it would help posters to give their opinions and actually pick their top 25 teams thru Week 4 (5 weeks) of the season.

What about Columbus and Wharton? I don't know about those teams. For everybody's info, a team not listed here that should be, imo, is Frisco Lone Star(5-0). And what about Kingsville King, Cuero, Gonzales, Sinton, etc. Are ALL of these schools beyond a top 25 consideration? I don't even know the records of some of them. I think maybe we should limit the picks to the top 15.

I assume you're a Celina person and wonder why you're short selling your guys at 22?

Also, i think you have Lorena way too high and Robinson too high. Actually though, I'm not sure whether any 17AAA teams ought to be in the Top 25.

It looks to me that China Spring has played the stronger of the non-district schedules and though they lost to Lampasas, I'll give them a pass because the Feliciano kid did not play.

Let me try to answer this in a way not to offend. Celina was ranked 8th last week and barley beat an 0-4 Perryton team by 6 points that is not very good. Any team in the top 10 should beat that team by 50+. The passing game has to get better plain and simple.

Take a look at Maxpreps. They analyze who you played and who they played, etc. looking at common opponents, etc. the deeper in the season, the more accurate it gets. At mid-season, it's got pretty good numbers to work with. 17-3A is performing better than most were anticipating, with Lorena at 12, Connally at 14, Robinson at 17, and China sliding to 38.

Lorena has been without 4-yr starting nose guard and all state qualifying quarter miler safety since Madisonvile, starting receiver and 17-3A co defensive MVP LB since early Grandview, and still have held their own. All should return by 1st district game. I think some of the early talk of 17-3A being down were based on LV being down.

It will be district dogfight between LL, CC, RR, and CS, with all being strong. Yes, I agree that CS missing RB made a difference, depends how long he is out.

Try zero....as in better than first. I will say it for you....Gilmer is numero uno in 3A in my book at this juncture, according to what I know about this team and Argyle's team. Argyle is not a distant second, and could perhaps be 1.5 or could just as well be 4th. Stephenville to me is still an unknown....I need to see more. Carthage is Carthage....always a contender even with question marks. Navasota was surprised and not ready for a team that most have overlooked....Fairfield. A rematch might turn out very differently. Both of these teams are Tier Ones. Kilgore is the one team that should be feared the most by all contenders, imo. They could very easily be the best team in 3A this season. Graham has a great offense and good defense....they have the ability to beat anybody on any given night. I think a very good defense can control Shallowater and give them problems. What in the world is going on over in Robinson??? And the jury is still out on Port Isabel, Gainesville, Frisco Lone Star, Princeton, Athens, Celina and others. Loreno could be very good, as could LaGrange and few others. This thing is a looong way from coming into full view at this point. BUT....I still say the Gilmer Buckeyes have what appears to be the very best group of talent assembled and is very deep.

May want to go ahead and check out what La Vernia has down in region 4 up to this point. Convincing wins over 4A Medina Valley, Wimberley, Canyon Lake, and Bandera. Only loss was to a very good 4A PL Calhoun team and that was actually a 6 point game with 90 seconds left in the game. Definitely one of the better defenses in the region and the offense continues to put points up despite missing their starting LT and TB. Looks like both might be back for district play in a couple weeks which should be a 3 team race with Pleasanton and Somerset. Not sure how high they should ranked but I think they are top 5 for the region, and should be somewhere in the top 25.

Anybody want to take a shot a ranking by probable division? A few years ago a guy from WOS did a great job of showing mid season updates by record and enrollment. It was pretty easy to see what needed to happen for one team to go D1 or D2. Miss that guy!

In 10-3A Lonestar losing to Aubrey really shook things up. looks like Aubrey has in the inside track and may push Argyle to D1.

Assuming :

Argyle 4-0
Celina 3-1 (Argyle)
Ranchview 2-2 (Celina & Argyle)
Aubrey 1-3 (Celina, Argyle, Ranchview)
Lonestar 0-4 (Celina, Argyle, Ranchview, Aubrey)

Even if Lonestar beats Ranchview, Aubrey would hold the tie breaker unless they LS beats RV by more than 11 points

friend from Celina says to put them at 25. Just taking his word.

Do really think Argyle can beat Stephenville or are you just playing nice?

You are giving way to much love to Gainsville also.

Argyle can beat Stephenville, but Stephenville can beat Argyle push. This mean it would be a great game!

I think the top 5 are all close. We beat them in touch football back in the summer...

Stepp posted his playoff predictions last Thursday and said he would be updating.

regaleagle posted that the 2013 Argyle team is the best he has seen, with multiple kids destined for D1 ball.
How do the yellowjackets compare to last year, is the highly recruited QB meeting expectations, and what other kids look like they will go D1?

What are the reasons Stephenville keeps churning out D1 quarterbacks?
I know you have the right system for QB development, but so do other schools.
I am guessing this trend started with Briles.
Is it the Head Coaches you hire, or do you just have some long-time quarterback coach/guru on staff?
