OVERVIEW: Coming off a loss to Bellville and a big night for senior tailback Dorland Fields (231 rushing yards), the Bulldogs could be looking for a bit of redemption against the Cowboys. Edna came into Bulldog Stadium last season and ruined the debut of the new turf at Bulldog Stadium with a win of their own. Sweeny is still averaging 447.3 yards offensively against opponents, but also is still giving up a big number on defense, 404.8 yards per game. The Bulldogs need to take care of the ball as fumbles cost them last weekend. They’ve dropped the ball 13 times so far, losing seven of them. This series dates back to 1956, with the Bulldogs holding a 22-12-2 advantage so far.
Edna is coming off a canceled contest against Yoakum after last weekend’s weather, but on Sept. 13 did beat Goliad, 29-19. The Cowboys’ run game is led by Marquis Broussard, who has rushed for 348 yards and seven touchdowns and has a punt return for a score as well.
