Navasota sophmore Sheldon Eppler is 36 of 62 for 598 yards. 8 TD's and 2 ints.

Not bad considering that they also have a team total of 660 rushing yards in 2 and 1/2 games.

The Carthage Dawgs have 1500 yards in two and half games, very balanced throwing and running the ball.

The Carthage Dawg QB has thrown one INT in three ball games and I believe 11 or 12 TDS. He is averaging over 350 yards passing per game. Tonight the Dawgs were 368 yards passing and 238 yards rushing.

I concur with Coleman. Might be the best QB in the state. He does not look like a typical QB but can beat you with his passing or he is a bruising runner.

Gilmer also has almost as much rushing yardage as they have passing, and he has yet to play a complete game. If they weren't so balanced, his stats would be astronomical. The Buckeye offense is averaging 61 points per game through 3 games. WOW!!!

This is true...however he does have certain advantages playing as the Gilmer qb that other talented qbs don't have. And stats only reflect certain things according to the situation anyway. Usually, when you spot a really good qb...one that has all the tools...you can recognize it immediately. And it doesn't matter what kind of team he's playing for....because he is the difference-maker on offense anyway. It's just very obvious and not up for debate.

Tanner has been nothing short of amazing so far this year. He did throw 2 INT's last week against Prestonwood, but has been spot on, on most of his passes. He has REALLY improved on his deep passes making Gilmer a threat once again anywhere on the field. He hasn't ran as much as he did last season but he hasn't needed to.

He is going to be something special this year.

Stephenville's Jarrett Stidham is off to a similar start as Tyler Jones had in 2012. A tougher predistrict schedule tends to limit stats in the beginning. If the Jackets continue to improve each game this season like last year, the stats will take care of themselves.

These aren't official.
Passing, in 3 games he has 43 comp on 83 attempts for 500 yards. 5 TD's and 2 int's. Rushing, in 3 games he has 160 yards on 56 attempts with 2 TD's.

Worth mentioning, freshman RB Kaegun Williams has rushed for 190 yards on 37 attempts with 2 TD's. Receiving he has 85 yards on 6 receptions and 1 TD.

Once Stephenville starts playing 3A schools, stats should start racking up. ;)

Wonder how many of those incompletions are drops? Seem to be 5-10 every game.
Turnovers have been costly too for the Jacket offense.

It is not all on the receivers, some balls are forced into double coverage and some are flat out over throws especially down the seam. If you watch Hudl, you will see several patterns that are thrown into coverage in the flat and seam routes are uncovered. I don't know if those are the 2nd or 3rd option, but seems on several plays he has already made up his mind without exploring other options. I have full faith he and the receivers will mature and getting it going by the end of the year.

I agree refereedoc that it's not all on the receivers. Timing of routes and passes is key between the Qb and receievers. I have full faith that everyone will get on the same page over the next few games. Also note that we all got spoiled in the second half of the season when the timing was on queue. We have to remember that it wasn't so in the first half of the season. And the competition the Ville has played so far has been pretty stout.

Having said that, we all know Bryce Gunter was a special reciever. Stidham, Sanchez, and Westbrook were also very sure handed. Were they in the first half of the season. Not so much. This all boils down to timining and confidence. It will come. There were plenty of doubts this time last season and looked what happened. I have faith. This team will do great things.

i think everyone thought Stidham would come out like a seasoned vet..and the reality is..he is not. new WRs, new RBs, to go along with new QB will take time to gel..its just that simple

Right on the $ toddg. All the hype of being highly recruited glazed over the fact that he's still a newbie with a new set of skill players to throw to. Learning curves are frustrating when expectations are high. It will come in due time!

Speaking of due time... How about October 18th? Anyone know what day that is?!?!?! It's DOOOOOOOOMS DAAAAAAAAAAAY for the Injuns from Johnson County. Yep, ole Alvarado will be stepping into the perfect storm.

No doubt there has been growing pains from everyone. One thing for sure it will get fixed if we can keep healthy. Stidham has to stay healthy and better slide more. We have no depth at QB.

Let's not forget about the running game if we need it. Stormy weather will only strengthen the Jackets game... especially against a buncha of Injuns who would rather tuck tail and run the other way. :taunt:

"The Gilmer offensive juggernaut is now averaging 631 yards per game: 346 yards passing and 285 yards rushing."

...And there is still a LOT of room for improvement...

I agree Cam...Derek Kiser one of the most under rated QB's in the State. Here is his complete stats:

2 Derek Kiser(Sr). Com. Att. %. TY APG. TD. INT. RATING
Burnet (TX) QB 3 73 101 .723 984 328.0 10 0 136

He should put up some big number against Canyon Lake on Friday. He already has 2 Receivers both with over 300 yards each.
