If our O can sustain drives consistently..and keep our D fresh, we definitely have a shot at the upset.. The raider's offense is very good,,

Buckeye 9th B-Team 12...Winona JV 8
Buckeye 9th A-Team 42...Jacksonville 9th 14
Buckeye JV 44...Jacksonville JV 34

Great job Buckeyes...JV game was a marathon slobber knocker with a J'ville ejected from the game & escorted out by a Deputy Sherriff...not sure what set him off but he was not a happy camper.

Hey G-Dawg, what frosh score is that? I heard Frosh A won 42 to something??....
I really like that JV team your boy is on!....who did the damage on offense??

Burnet 8th B lost to MF on a 4th and long TD pass in the last seconds. Final 7 - 0. Felt bad for the Burnet DB who let the receiver get behind him. But that one play will probably make him a better player.
Burnet 8th A - 21 vs. MF A - 0 ......a pretty salty performance by this group against a pretty good looking group of MF boys!.....I was down on the field and could hear & see a MF fan yelling, "Watch #3, watch #3, that's all they got!"......#3 is WR/RB Tyler Torres..who is definitely a stud......Right after this gentleman's yelling, RB Ian Carter scored....That fan went quiet!......Then RB Quentin Buetow got involved especially in the 2nd half...Not only is he fast & strong, I'm convinced this kid is nuts!.....After runnin' over a few defenders, he'd jump up screamin' and shoutin' like some lunatic!....I can tell he loves football!...But that kid scares me!!........A steady dose of those 3 boys along with a few passes wore out Marble Falls by the 4th quarter.....Hope these kids stick together.....

That freshmen group are salty!
And they didn't even have their QB and best DB (Varsity). They are a lot bigger than the Varsity. Definitely a group to look forward to for the next several years.

I remember back in high school when I was a soph. on the JV(1970). The whole town came out every homegame to see us play. We literally trounced every team we played that season. But the varsity that season went 3-7, I believe. Probably had some players on the JV that should've been on the varsity as starters, even though only sophs. and maybe a junior or two. I think nowadays coaching staffs are more willing to let the younger athletes play varsity if they are good enough than they did back then. Needless to say, the next two seasons we had great teams. We won in football, basketball, baseball, and even golf. I was fortunate to be a part of a winning group. I think that has helped me later in life to always stay positive when the going gets tough. Just something for you younger players and parents to chew on.
