There's just no way you can jump Argyle ahead of Navasota and Gilmer until one of those teams loses. As long as all three are winning, I'd have to put them both ahead of the Eagles, no question. Same with Graham and Carthage getting higher rankings as well. I think this poll just wants to be a little different...just for funsies. Really, it has no effect on the games whatsoever....just something to stir it all up a little more, I guess. I know Carthage is highly thought of by the other polls, but in my mind Navasota is the reigning champ and Gilmer a runner-up....Carthage was neither, just like Argyle and Graham. The jury is still out on Stephenville, but most feel they will win D1 in Region 1. I'm not so sure. Alvarado, Wylie, Burnet and a few others could test them this season come playoff time. Lubbock Estacado??? Just depends on how things go and the injuries. I think Stephenville is deep, though. That's in their favor bigtime.

One thing nobody has really mentioned...and I just did some homework...is that Graham may very well go D1 this season. That's a very real possibility in their district. Enrollmentwise, they are the 3rd largest school, and Wichita Falls Hirschi would have to make the playoffs(also Burkburnett) for Graham to fall into the D2 bracket. Game is now on in Region I Division 1, imo. Of course, Hirschi could displace Iowa Park, and that would put Graham back into Division 2. IMO, this is a key district in Region I to be watching during district play. What division Graham lands in will definitely have an effect on the Region I playoff picture. Funny thing is...you could see the same exact thing happening in Region II with Argyle in District 10. If Aubrey makes the playoffs instead of Carrollton Ranchview....Argyle goes D1. From what I have read so far, both Aubrey and Ranchview are much improved this season. I figure Argyle, Celina, and Lone Star are definites in District 10. I also believe Argyle and Graham can play with any team in 3A this season.

Another stranger than fiction coincidence....Argyle and Graham have the exact same enrollment of 668 and are the 3rd largest school in a 5-team district. Talk about the twilight zone......very eerie. Now if Graham beats Wylie 38-0 also, that will be really weird, lol. :crazy1::twitch:

Kennedale is the best 0-2 team in class 3a right now. Go Wildcats!

:iagree: 0-2 is very deceiving for this Kennedale team

Navasota and Stephenville should be ranked #1 and nothing else really matters until their taken down.

I mean I understand that logic because they won state, but that doesn't make them the best teams in 2013, though they might be.

By the same logic, El Campo and Gilmer should be 3 and 4 until they lose and so on. Yes they won state but that was then and this is now. They MIGHT be the best 2 again.... But it's a new season. So in short, I disagree.

I agree 100%...never understood in polls that have no bearing on who gets in why should last year's title teams be 1 and 2

My point is that polls don't mean squat this early in the year. Injuries and a number of other things could happen that could change things over the next 6 weeks. For now, Ville and Navasota have the titles from last year that everyone else wants. Same thing for Alabama

Polls never mean anything. They're strictly for fan speculation, and there's no reason they shouldn't do that in week 0 or Week 1 or whenever

Polls don't really mean doodley squat. This ain't the old BCS where rankings mean whether you play in a championship or not. Thank God!

With that being said, I can't see Graham or Argyle being above Gilmer, seeing as Gilmer beat both last year pretty handily. I also think Gilmer is better than Carthage at this point in the season. The others I'm not real sure how they stack up.

I guess if there weren't any rankings then the fans and football fanatics that follow Texas high school football would be somewhat remiss and less informed about the larger picture of football played each week throughout the various classifications and regions within the state. Then sites like 3aDL wouldn't be as popular or even visited as much. So there's method in the madness, lol.

I've said it a million times. It's being ranked #1 or #2 after week 16 that matters!

Yes very true cougartino. But there has to be somewhat of a common "bar" to be measured against for us to cuss and discuss! lol

Fairfield not being in the top 40 is a croc. Henderson sucks. Aint no reason why they should be on this list
