Being investigated for paying players, among other things during the Les Miles era. Looks like this could be a death penalty type situation if anything is found.

Again going after the programs that threaten the "establishment".

I don't remember where I heard this but over the weekend someone stated it was an Oklahoma booster doing lots of digging to try and find evidence to present a case against them to the NCAA. I think I also heard during the OSU highlights that most of the allegations are beyond the statute of limitations for OSU. Has something new come to light today? The NCAA is such a shame, why would anyone lend them any credibility anymore after what has transpired over the last 18 months? Several of inconsistencies in their punishments and lots of overreaching their power.

Looks like the Old SWC has rubbed off on the carpet baggers.

the payments go into 2011 which means NCAA can investigate and if they find it goes to lack of control they can go deeper

and OSU was doing this back a long time ago so nothing really rubbed off from SWC LOL

Yea it did. the telling on your conference rival is the part referencing the old southwest conference. All major football powers participate in some form of these alligations. There are no earth shattering revelations in the article.

Considering the author, an OU fan, this is so freaking ridiculous that SI ran with this article. It has the SMU story written all over it, don't rock the apple cart. Somehow what OU did with the car dealership scandal was different than this, give me a break. They are either all guilty or none of them are.

ESPN's Jason Whitlock...

"But then in addition to that, having worked with Thayer Evans at Fox Sports, having followed his work for some time, I am completely and utterly flabbergasted that a legitimate news outlet would allow Thayer Evans to be involved in some type of investigative piece on college football that tears down a program, and particularly one that tears down Oklahoma State when it is no secret what a huge, enormous, gigantic Oklahoma homer Thayer Evans is.

This is just incredible. Knowing the lack of competence that’s there with Thayer Evans, knowing the level of simple-mindedness that’s there with Thayer Evans, to base any part of the story on his reporting is mind-boggling".

Here's more from Whitlock on Thayer Evans...

"He’s simpleminded. He’s a hack that can’t write. This isn’t personal, I promise. I have no reason to dislike Thayer Evans personally, and I don’t. But I’ve read enough of his work this guy isn’t qualified for this job and by now Sports Illustrated and anybody else should be well aware of this.

Let me end by saying this and I honestly mean this without malice. It wouldn’t shock me if Thayer Evans couldn’t spell "cat" and I say in all seriousness."

That had even less substance than the first article. This is an article about 30 years late in its revelations. This happens everywhere, just like what Manziel did. The vilification of both OSU and Manziel is some kind of witch hunt to keep the status quo as stated earlier in this thread. I don't find the article to be thought provoking or informing me of something that I didn't already know. College players get laid and accept money, NO WAY. Who would have thought that?

But this appears to be OSU getting caught....It is the old Prohibition rule..keep the drinking secret and no one cares, but the moment it is made public the cops come down hard..way it always has been in NCAA and way it always will be..even if every school is doing it, only ones that are exposed will be dealt with

Anyone working for ESPN criticizing another media outlet for being unprofessional and biased is beyond ridiculous.

ESPN is the National Inquirer of sports media.

Low hanging fruit and they don't have the same type of protection. If really curious watch the 30for 30 about SMU and you will see why these type schools get busted while the blue bloods don't get much attention in this regard.
