I remember the Celina boys coming out in all neck rolls boy was that awesome and when they did they were dominant. Bring um back boys! Maybe that's pilot points problem too didnt wear enough neck rolls to beat Bonham this past week. 8 rings with neck rolls what gives?

I agree bring the Neck Rolls back. Stephenville for years was king of the Neck Rolls I remember in the early 90's watching Stephenville in the playoffs and the only player that wasn't wearing a neck roll was the qb. Hey and they won a few titles back then. I think neck roll nation is onto something.

I think because players want to feel lighter, faster and not be ristricted. I think neck rolls look cool on linemen, Celina's linemen used to all wear them and people can say what they want, but neck rolls make you look bigger and there is a intimidation factor there!

Bring back the neck roll!!

I guarantee if one team starts wearing them again other teams will follow. Last year towards the end of the year 3 or 4 Celina olinemen started wearing them. In all honesty they looked like the gained 20 lbs and for some reason they looked taller.

Cowboy collar is actually the best for overall protection. Butterfly restrictors are great for stopping whip lash. The neck roll is actually the least effective.

Lol, yeah. I was in the 1990 video suited up in white. Not very good memories for me. I couldn't find any footage of me in there but I was and heavily involved against #25 from the Ville. He actually took my knee out that night! :weeping: Needless to say it was a very long bus ride home. And yes, I had a neck roll. ;)

What type of camera did they use in the 98 Bwd./Ville gaime? Both teams looked huge! :)

I thought the same thing. What i noticed is both teams wear neck rolls which make them look bigger, but look at their huge thigh pads. Those are some big pads.

Also those numbers on their Jersey's are real big which make the players appear taller kinda like an optical illusion.

I think neck rolls do help. But I also think that since the helmets of today are so protective, players fill that they are invincible and lead with the head more than ever. Go back to the helmets we had in the late 80's early 90's where the helmets had plenty of protection but still made your ears ring from a helmet to helmet. Or heck, let's go back to the 70's where they just had the canvas suspension. I guarantee the concussions would decrease. Who wants to go helmet to helmet with those helmets?? They would only do it once. Ain't nobody got time for that!

I think we're headed in the right direction with the new "helmet to helmet" and "leading with the crown of the helmet" rules. Keep the new helmets and continue player awareness, education, and strict enforcement on the field by the officials. Missing an important game from non compliance will go a long way in getting this point across to players.

I wore my old neck roll to the office today. I got a few odd looks, and one person asked me if I had gained weight... I said heck no, its the neck roll.
